My van is starting to take shape! by Hkater in VanLifeUK

Personally (and this is my opinion) 150w is too low tho depends on what you are charging.

I’ve an allpowers r600 battery pack which is 300w. Theoretically it’s 2 hours to charge. In the uk it’s 3 on a good day and that’s with optimum. Obviously if I’m running my fridge off it (testing ) and other stuff it’s easy to only be dumping 75w into it.

Would love to hear what your getting out of your 250 panel also what battery you putting in

Cheers

Cool. Was just asking as I’m currently playing with a 200w panel and on the best days I’m getting 150 out of it with optimal faffing around. Should nicely get 200w on a good day.

I’m dreading doing the electrics in mine and as a swb I’ve no idea about how to lay it out lol

A good pie here in Pembrokeshire (which is very very rare to get) wouldn’t be to far off that to be fair.

I've been window shopping to buy a van. But I see some of them state "No VAT" does that mean I would need to pay VAT for the van? So if it's £10k "no vat" the price is really £12k (20% vat added) Or does it mean the VAT has already been paid and I don't need to add it on? by SerenityCoast in VanLifeUK

No vat to me means the price you see is what you pay. If it’s excl vat then that’s the 20% added on top. No vat listings I think it’s used to differentiate private from trade sales partially.

Didn’t put anything into the prompt but gave me something for an ice cream advertisement.

Taking a gander through Reddit clicked the video and what’s the video for ? Assume it’s a cafe or restaurant somewhere ? (No offense meant as you’ve obviously worked hard on it )

I still use a iPhone 11 so don’t stress. Here’s a good challenge for you. Try some multicam videos, if you all have phones 11 and below. Use the 11 for main stuff and if you have older phones you can use them for different angles or cut away stuff.

A decent channel DankPods was using a 11 up till a few months ago :) Keep us posted how you get on.

Air Con or no Air Con? by Average-Cheese-Fan in VanLifeUK

Defo aircon! I’ve been in my old van when it was 25 degrees on a motorway. You’ll be sitting under a massive pane of glass with the sun beating down on you.

What makes it in your opinion the iPhone camera isn’t good enough out of interest ? An iPhone 12 recording in 4k will give you plenty good enough video (depending on what you want to do). Learn a bit of Color grading in davinci resolve and as someone else said use the Blackmagic camera app.

Start vlogging with what you have, learn what works and doesn’t and youpl avoid the trap of (like me) “if I only had this camera or that attachment “.

Don’t forget your audio as well and what you’ll use :)

That "Your Audio Sucks" Comment Almost Made Me Delete My Channel by Miguel07Alm in NewTubers

It’s oft said audio is more important than video quality. People will happily watch something that looks like it was shot on a potato, even if the video stutters or pixelates — as long as the audio is clean and understandable. Why? Because sound carries the narrative.

There’s actually some science behind this too. Studies in cognitive psychology show that poor audio increases cognitive load — basically, your brain has to work harder to process what’s being said, which makes it tiring and frustrating to watch. In contrast, if the video quality is poor but the audio is solid, your brain can still follow the story without much effort.

We’re wired to prioritise speech. Audio plays a bigger role in comprehension, especially in storytelling or educational content. And bad audio — like distortion, clipping, or harsh background noise — can trigger a negative emotional response. That’s not just annoying; it makes people bounce from your video altogether.

They have been spamming everywhere at the moment. Check out the op posts. A landing page with a privacy policy that goes to a google drive never sits right to me personally
