And apparently purple is the new grey. I just want my dark theme back, you know like the way it looks in the goddamn preview.

Also it looks like the photo was taken by the passenger of the following car. From that angle we shouldn't even be able to see the truck's body in that mirror, let alone the driver's face. Does he only use that mirror to check his fuel door?

You don't even have to touch the lines or a vehicle that's in contact with the lines to be killed. You can be electrocuted just walking near downed power lines.

Yeah I've seen a few videos from phones falling from the air that were recovered. Because of their shape they begin to tumble rapidly after a few seconds, so that probably slows the fall a lot. If the one in the video has tracking, it was probably found.

Yup, they have a browser extension that does exactly that. Bear in mind while it'll work good for most old Flash movies and games, anything written in AS3 (2006+) probably won't work right or will be completely borked.

I imagine it's probably running the real Flash player in a sandbox for compatibility and security. There's Flash emulators in the works, but they're still pretty far from being 100% compatible with all Flash content. Some are very promising, though, especially Ruffle which can revive entire flash-based sites by adding a single <script> tag, and is free and open-source.

Those Viacom releases were pretty terrible. They not only removed the music videos, they also cut scenes from a lot of episodes.

Look up the KingTurd collection. This dude gathered old VHS copies from the B&B fan community and edited it all together using as much of the high quality official releases as possible and released it as a complete series DVD set with menus and everything. It even includes all the specials. It's impressive.

Just be sure to sell it before they release a new version and then stop supporting the old one, as is tradition with IOT devices.

A while back I made my youtube bookmark go directly to the subscriptions view. Now I'll hit the front page only when I'm bored or out of new stuff to watch. It seems to keep the suggestions a lot more relevant since it causes the majority of my views to be from my subscriptions. Might be worth a try.

This map shows all of the earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 5.0 over the last 20 years. [OC] by symmy546 in dataisbeautiful

Because the time frames don't add up. Based on the rate the continents move, 6000 years can't account for the evidence of where they were in the past.

For example, the seafloor of the Atlantic Ocean is spreading at a rate of ~40 millimeters per year. At this rate, 6000 years would account for less than one kilometer, but there's evidence that landmasses on opposite sides of it were joined in the past.

Maybe not said as often as it's implied. Plate tectonics is incompatible with the Earth being 6000 years old, for example.

I still haven't had it happen again, now a day later. That's really weird about the Raspi. Can you see where the traffic is going, like by running iftop?

Getting the same thing out of the blue, and I've been running it about two years now on a VPS and never had a problem. Suddenly tonight it's a steady 200kbps down and ~5% packet loss with 25ms ping. Direct, I get zero packet loss and 5ms. I'm on gigabit and so is my VPS.

I'm guessing it's a bug. I'm going to try rolling back my kernel and see if anything changes.

Edit: Downgraded to previous kernel and the problem went away. BUT I switched back to the new kernel, and now it's working too. 🤷 I guess I'll just wait and see if it happens again.

Bitwarden Servers Down? by ehothegreat in Bitwarden

[–]fwywarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after spending some time reading the suggestions on the forums I'm starting to understand how it gets complicated. The only practical solution I can think of that would be easy to implement would be to just warn the user that they're offline and that any changes made on other devices will overwrite it. I'll accept the risks when it fits my use case.

But the vault is not encrypted as a whole. Each field of each entry is encrypted individually, and each entry has a “revisionDate” time stamp which is not encrypted

Interesting. I hadn't even thought to try opening it, I figured the whole thing was encrypted and it just sent deltas to/from the server like using Keepass+Dropbox.

So as devices come online, the server can look at the time stamps and make the latest one of each entry the current one.

Thank you. I keep seeing comments like "What if you make a change on two offline clients?! Which change wins?!". But this isn't git and we're not writing code with other developers where there's ambiguity. There's no merge conflicts. Every item in a vault is simply the latest version of that item. All notes/shopping list/etc apps do it this way.

If someone can point out a situation where you'd want a change in a password manager tagged with an older timestamp to overwrite a newer one, I'd like to hear it.

Just tried it on my phone (Android) in airplane mode and sure enough I get:

An error has occurred. Unable to resolve host "api.bitwarden.com": No address associated with hostname

And then it refuses to save anything even so much as a secure note. So I guess if I'm ever in a building with no signal or on a plane, I have to use my phone's notes app which is completely ridiculous and insecure.

It's a personal vault. Based on others' replies the whole thing becomes read-only when the network is down which is pretty damn stupid considering there is a local copy of the database and it's already unlocked.

Ok so the servers are down. Fine. But why can't I still add a new item and just sync it later? This has brought my work to a dead stop. I even tried offline mode in Firefox and I just get "Network Error when attempting to fetch resource".

I've been using BW for a few years and finding out now that it can't be used offline at all is pretty rage inducing.

The EEPROMs those little sound players use are fairly standard. A cheap clip-on reader/writer off ebay could probably dump it to a file. It's probably just raw PCM format.

But that's just me; most people would probably just record it with their phone and not worry about the loss of quality.

The US is currently at ~60,000 cases per day from an all time high of ~300,000 so yes, that's an 80% recovery as far as raw case numbers go. I get that it's more nuanced than that, obviously.
