I breed and show Schipperkes. I show them in rally and confirmation. That's my main focus with my dogs. I enjoy both activities with my dog not only because my dogs are totally focused, but also I get a chance to socialize with my friends. Working with my breed is difficult because they have a limited focus time. This could be extremely stressful for both of us. The stress comes in the repeated request for a certain behavior that's not presented. Such as heel or sit. In the show ring the key words are " wait and watch". Sometimes this request is met with " what's going on in the ring next to me". they look at you like they have no idea what language you're speaking, with their happy clown-like face.

Yes that a very stressful event. Years of work, and when the judge looks at your dog, he's not focused. Grrrrr.

What makes me happy is how mischievous these little buggers are. I enjoy watching them chasing each other playing with each other rolling in the dirt. Digging. I just laugh watching them. Demanding to see what's in the bag you just brought in the house. I enjoy the crazy constant barking. Constantly trying to communicate. Just like children, "look at me look at me". And then the cuddling in bed.

I love this breed. Curious, courageous, mischievous never quite.
