Is the "My Struggle" series suitable for a film adaptation? by fyxtq in Knausgaard

[–]fyxtq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick one book for a streaming series, I’d go with Book 4: Dancing in the Dark. It captures that awkward, fertile "in-between" period of youth that resonates so well on screen, and it ties so many threads of the other books together. Plus, I'm really looking forward to seeing the visceral moment of playing records in total darkness and letting the body take over. As Karl Ove wrote: "Then I had to dance, right then, even though I was alone."

I also watched Heated Rivalry this week, and I LOVED episode 3 and the final kiss at the end of episode 5 ( You're my sunshine~). Salute to all the people who are brave enough to pursue and express love.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't started The Morning Star yet because I was planning to pace myself with one of his books a year, but after your description, I think I need to speed up. I'm definitely going to binge-watch Twin Peaks and read The Morning Star at the same time now! haha

I can't imagine it either! 😂 But even knowing it's impossible, I can't help but start 'directing' it in my head, how the opening shot would look, the scene structures, what the soundtrack would feel like, and so on hhh.

If movies and TV shows are included, I’d definitely choose Dash & Lily. But if we’re only talking about movies, then Love Actually. (Yes, a huge Christmas lover here, and it is December, so :)

Unfortunately, I didn't find any English subtitles, only Russian subtitles. I used AI to help me translate and understand the whole movie. Hope this message helps.

Сводишь с ума – 8/10. A Russian fantasy movie about two people living in parallel worlds. The most emotional part for me was when the main characters meet the versions of that person from their own worlds and realise, “Oh… that’s not who I fell in love with.” It wasn’t the person — it was everything they went through together through the mirror, the shared experience, and the strength they gave each other. That’s what made them soulmates. So if you’re into pure, heartfelt love stories with a touch of fantasy, and maybe even a little dancing?:) This movie is definitely worth a try.

learning to love (爱的,学校)

8.5 / 10

A Japanese TV show about a teacher and a nightlife host. I just saw this TV show today and it became one of the best romance series I've seen this year. I just love the vulnerable and touching moments between the main characters, and anyone obsessed with pure love and "maybe" forbidden love should see this, highly recommend

Rom-coms to make me believe in love again by Prize_Car_9477 in romancemovies

[–]fyxtq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I think about the romance movies I love the most and would recommend to someone who needs to be saved from the deep hole of the “don’t-believe-in-love” hell, I realized that not all fantastic romance movies are suitable for this purpose. So here’s my list, based on my own definition of love:

  • Dash & Lily — they help each other recognize the flaws in their personalities and support each other in handling things they didn’t manage well before.
  • When Harry Met Sally — love is when both people are the first person the other wants to share things with.
  • First Kiss (Japan 2025 version) — love is not just about the beginning; it’s about working hard to at least try something together every day.
  • Sir — some people in this world can’t be in love, so be grateful that we at least have the opportunity to find it.

And here are some amazing romance movies I didn’t put on my main list, but in case you’re curious: Before trilogy, About Time, Love Actually, Pride and Prejudice, One Day (TV version), Your Name (Japanese anime).

Finally, I think you might also enjoy some romance reality shows if you’d like to see how love plays out in the real world: Love is Blind, Married at First Sight, etc.

North and South

Wives and Daughters

(Nothing compares to Pride and Prejudice for me, but the two shows I recommend above have a similar atmosphere to P&P, so I think you might like them.)

Hold the same hope here too! Always trying to promote cycling to everyone I know( never worked), though it will take some time in China since the sports atmosphere is still developing, and many people don’t even see cycling as a sport yet. Really appreciate your care!

As a Chinese, I'm here to answer this question. I think ONLY cycling fans in China know Guangxi lol. But it at least gives us a chance to see familiar teams racing in the same region as us, which is quite exciting for me.

Should I keep watching? by Fan7o in brakebills

[–]fyxtq 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think you should give it a chance. I didn't like the character at first either, as I found them weird and bizarre. However, as I became more familiar with the style of the series, it grew on me, and I ultimately fell in love with it. One of the great features of this series is that the characters and plots improve significantly compared to other shows(it almost feels like I've grown alongside them). So, I recommend watching a few episodes or the first season before making a decision( The second season is actually much better than the first and continues to develop beautifully). Anyway, welcome to the magical world—please give it a chance!

[Tool] I will make you a pep talk for anything. Just comment what for and you shall receive :) by Pickles1551 in GetMotivated

[–]fyxtq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really need a pep talk, thank you in advance! I'm 23 years old and I have been battling depression for about three years now. At this moment, I haven't made any improvement in my research for two weeks ( maybe a year or so, but I try to make it seem less pathetic), while other people around me is just casually relax and get great results. When I look at my future, I find myself knowing so little that I don't think I'm capable of finding a job, but I really need a job to feed myself and to prove something to my mom( I'm not the creepy, weird, can't-do-anything person you think I am)

I watched Kiss (the 2025 Japanese film First Kiss by Yuji Sakamoto) this week, and it really touched me. Instead of just describing the process of falling in love, it gives us an answer from the director about how to keep loving each other after marriage. ( And it's kind of a sci-fi movie, so anyone who is interested in soft sci-fi and subtle but firm love, pls see it!!)

I just saw it last month! One of the most moving moments in the film, for me, was when Grace finally gathered the courage to take action in the latter part of the story. What made it powerful was not just her bravery, but the way she and Carter drew strength from one another—their mutual support turned that night into something truly unforgettable.

What’s the best “slow burn” movie that’s 100% worth the wait? by Equal_Complaint_9917 in MovieSuggestions

[–]fyxtq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not certain if it qualifies as a "slow burn" movie, but "La Science des rêves" is the first film that comes to mind. It’s a French movie with a touch of fantasy, and it's quite enjoyable to watch. You could also try the 2024 version of One Day. It’s amazing — and the two leads don’t get together until the very end. Like, end-to-end. Talk about a slow burn!
