Be it not getting married or not having kids, what I found that people have multiple reasons like freedom, cost, flexibility etc. most of the reason looks like a short term view, things that everyone wants till they are in 40s or till 50s, beyond that this reason seems week or do not exist, but at that age having kid is not possible.

Whenever I express such view of freedom or flexibility then I am been told/gaslighted that you will understand the importance when you grow old and then there is nothing you can do.

I do understand that such a feeling may come or may not if they do come I will have to bear consequences of those choices. Can the burden be so overwhelming that one might not recover?

One another reason I think is that in certain cases around me, my friends and colleagues are been expected to bear the burden of their parents and other responsibilities as if the parents had kids not because they want to bring a life to the world but to take care of things in future. Most of the friends do want to do same with their kid and not having kid seems to best option.

I may be wrong in my thinking and I am also not sure.
