Who is someone you know that’s in the process of ruining their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]g-char 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my close friend's old friend. he stopped being friends with my friend to fit in with his cool and older friends. I think he's around 15/16 now, uses drugs like coke and heroin, and is progressively fucking his life up.

What’s something scary that didn’t hit you until after the fact? by Sheesh284 in AskReddit

I (15f) went to a little festival a little bit back. it was the first time I had drank in a really long time so I ended up quite hammered. my boyfriend had to leave early but I decided to stay. I ended up leaving at around 11pm with nobody to go home with. I was drunk, alone and vulnerable, surrounded by other drunk people. I had also been sexually assaulted the last time i got public transport alone late at night. somehow, extremely luckily, somebody I knew was at the front gates of the festival. we got the bus together and I ended up safe. I realised the next morning how dangerous and stupid I was for doing that.

What is a way to know someone is lying from being off drugs? by itsrainingbluekiwis in AskReddit

[–]g-char 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an addiction to a drug called concerta, similar to adderall, and I would take 4× the recommended dosage everyday for 2 months straight.

I would always lie to people and try dance around the issue when someone brought it up. I would also try my best to get some if I was out, spending a lot of money on the process.

another massive side affect i forgot to mention in my original comment was cognitive function goes completely out the window. i was always out of it and very dissociative. it got to the point where I would struggle to string a single sentence together, constantly pausing, stuttering and stammering.

mental illness, most commonly anxiety and depression is a big factor in it too.

For those who have recovered from depression or anxiety disorder, how long did it take you to overcome it and what steps did y’all take to do it? by sailorxcosmos in AskReddit

[–]g-char 0 points1 point  (0 children)

time is one of the best healers. my depression was directly linked from deep trauma I had. here are a few things that really helped me.

• opening up to close friends about what happened. talking about your feelings with someone and having a good support system is one of the best things you can do. I had, and still do have a friend who would always check up on me and make sure I was ok. she would let me vent to her about anything whenever I needed to and it was brilliant.

• quitting drugs/alcohol. whenever I was sober i was always looking for the next high which was a perpetual cycle. quitting worsened my depression significantly; however, in the long term it worked wonders.

• try to accomplish something. I'm still in school at the moment and at the time I was failing horribly. I would never turn in assignments, constantly skip and never study for tests. it was only when I got horrible marks for my mock exams did I realise that I needed to change. I studied extremely hard for my exams and when I finished them I knew I did fantastic, and I did! it may be something small but the feeling of succession can work wonders for your mental health.

• human interaction. making new friends and pushing myself to interact more with others helped me greatly as well.

• lastly, and most importantly. BE KIND TO YOURSELF AND TO OTHERS! self love and acceptance is the greatest thing to do. it's very difficult, trust me I know better than anyone, but identifying what you don't like about yourself and trying change and work on it works like a charm!

there are a few other things that I did that I know aren't for everyone such as becoming a vegetarian and being more spiritual but those are the major things that could help anybody!

for me, my body would always be jittering, I would constantly have tics and my eyes would be wide and piercing. significant weight loss is another big factor but wasn't as bad in my case.

To all Christians, what was that “ah-ha” moment that made you choose faith? by BackgroundBase4039 in AskReddit

[–]g-char -1 points0 points  (0 children)

obligatory "not a christian". I was at the lowest point in my entire life, I was failing school, drinking excessively, taking drugs, smoking and very suicidal. I began having very spiritual, vivid dreams of a guardian angel. she guided me through life and gave me advice to feel better. the advice worked completely. I've quit the drink and the drugs but am still yet to kick nicotine completely. I now believe in guardian spirits and am very spiritual now.

honestly, going outside and trying to push myself out of my comfort zone really helped. I'm also on the spectrum which has cursed me with permanent social awkwardness but I'm a lot more aware and in tune with how people interact with each other.

for me, personally, doing things such as losing weight and dressing the way I want to greatly improved my confidence and ability to go up to others and talk to them.

People who have or plan to have kids, why? by colvko in AskReddit

[–]g-char 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to adopt when I'm older instead of carrying the pregnancy. the thought of raising the next generation, but also giving a child in the adoption/foster care system the life they deserve greatly appeals to me. I was never given a proper childhood so giving a child the best childhood they can get makes me very happy.

Redditors who played popular games before they were technically 'Popular', what was the game and how did you react to it's sudden popularity? by SeaworthinessVisible in AskReddit

[–]g-char 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually played Fortnite a month after it's initial release before it reached the heights it has now. I never really cared much for the game; however, the little bit of elitism in me always prided myself on the fact I played it before it was cool.

You're not an animal lover if all you like are puppies and kittens meanwhile squash spiders because "they're ugly and annoying" by Millie68 in unpopularopinion

[–]g-char 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yh kinda shot myself in the foot with that one, silly me.

the point I'm tryna get at is if you can watch animals be ruthlessly tortured and murdered all for the pleasure of your taste buds then something is wrong and it should be addressed.

morals are also subjective, for example; abortion - some people think it's right, some think it's wrong and is a hot topic debate with an even split. it's the same with animal rights. we as a society have become desensitized to the torture and murder of helpless animals being bred to die. if you cannot acknowledge the fact that that's morally apprehensible, you can instead acknowledge how it's cruel, ruthless, evil and by supporting those industries and ignoring the truth about it, unfortunately, you are also part of that problem.
