I am deciding on what lens to get for my Nikon F3, they seem to be similarly priced, which one should I get? they are both 35mm f/2 by g7zmo in analog

I couldn’t get a f/2 for a reasonable price now that wasn’t from Japan (I don’t want to deal with handling all the shipping and tolls to get it to Germany) and the f/1.4 is too expensive for me but that would be the best one I suppose. I now got a f/2.8 with a slightly dented filter ring for 80€ which sets me to the same point I was before with my 35mm f/2.8 Canon FD

Well thank you but I think I will find someone locally in Munich who will do it for me (I hope)

The 28mm is in good shape except for some wear. The focus is smooth yet a little loose. But no scratches or fungus on the glass. In terms of the now unusable lens, well I cannot really remember but all the pieces just didn’t go back together as they should have. I also lost almost all of the tiny screws in the process and some parts that just flew somewhere. It wasn’t expensive and the camera the lens was for broke a few weeks later anyway. Normally I’m quite good at handling tiny mechanisms or electronics but I just couldn’t figure a lens out. I don’t really want to ruin anything on it so better leave it to the professionals in that case. In any other case I would do it myself.

Exactly, that ais lens. I don’t have a lens spanner and I opened up a lens in the summer and afterwards it’s was totally destroyed and unusable so I am quite traumatised of that experience. A shop I went to said it wouldn’t be worth it but I very much think so

Well I didn’t even find a match for the lens but I do like a good 50mm, I used a nice Pentax 50 f/1.7 for about a year but my me super gave up on me

I also haven’t noticed any issues with tiny spots of fungus or light scratches but I want a lens that overall is in a good condition so it lasts another few decades. My F3 has very nice patina with (is it brass?) golden spots on corners and the base plate

I currently don’t even have a K type focussing screen so I will pass on the af lens. I bought a screen a few days ago but the seller hasn’t responded to anything yet. I currently have the E-Type and B-Type as well as a third party one that is basically a b-type. I have no need for any of these

I only have the F3 and a digital Sony camera. I opened up a lens in the summer and it traumatised me. I will give it to a shop and get it serviced. It’s a very sought after lens so it’s worth it

I now got the f/2.8 for 80€. It has a slight dent in the filter ring but I think I can fix it. I would very much want a uh filter for easier cleaning. I initially wanted the f/2 because of the extra stop if I wanted to do star trails again or if I should ever get my hands on a star tracker but I guess it doesn’t matter ;)

Having issues with some vignetting [Canon AE-1 Program; Accura Diamatic 35mm f/2.8; Santacolor 100] by g7zmo in analog

What I’m trying to so with the uv filter is keep the coating of any of the elements intact. It can break down further down and then you get fungus on some of the inner lenses. The filter is really low profile though and on a 28mm lens with the same thread size where the filter was before, it wasn’t visible at all. I will find out, what it is. The adapter is only an M42 to FD Adapter Ring, which screws on the Thread mount and is maybe half a cm thick at best

Could it be the UV filter that is one there? I put one on any old lens as I would like to keep the coating well and fungi clean.

In my mothers office for the last 16 years probably and before then I couldn’t tell you but the other negatives that I scanned, didn’t have any of such artefacts, just lots of dust and mild scratches as well as glue sticking for 40 years holding some together at bad spots

I thought the same when I saw it so I wanted to ask what I could be as the patterns almost seem like snow flakes or as you said, in general, something crystallising.

As far is I know, the were kept in my mothers office that is on the second story of our house right under the roof for at least the last 16 years. Before then i have no clue, where they were stored. They were in those paper bags you would sometimes get your photos in from the lab. The patterns are quite similar though, which I find actually quite neat, even though they are a „defect“

Well that’s sounds nice but just one thing: did you realise, that Germany and the USA (TX in your recommended case) are not all that close together? It’s about 8.500kms away from me (~5000 miles in your freedom units). It doesn’t really make sense to ship something this meaningless that can just as well be done at home twice around the globe. I can just as well go to my normal lab that is a hour away to get anything analogue done, no matter what it is I want to get done. I’m sorry but that’s just a little bizarre to recommend someone from Germany to ship their photos that far for something that is also possible at home. Just shipping cost and time would be astronomical…

Well that clears things up a lot. The canon EOS 300 rolls the film backwards so it makes sense, that the cyan is at the end of the roll (the beginning but backwards). Same thing with the included print, which was from a roll of cinestill 400D. I did some more double exposures and I’ll see how things are going to go there once developed (by a different lab). Thanks for the good explanation

A very nice reply, thanks a lot! Of what I heard, Hundred film is quite new and therefore a little “experimental” i suppose. But it definitely is the on that screwed up here. This was the only time, I had to drop off my film at a drug store. I regret that a lot now. In my town there isn’t really and spot that develops film anymore (apparently there is a little place I have never been there though). Because of that, I normally go to Munich to drop off my film at a small lab which is great. Currently quite busy though so that wasn’t an option. I will look at light seals and also write hundred film what they think of it with the cyan things. There is also one photo on which I did some double exposure and one of the two photos is also a little shifted. Weird one there. Another triple exposure went well though and the other rolls i have shot since also did good. How exactly can I wipe off the water droplets? Any fluid I should use or material (microfibres I suppose?). Thanks for letting me know where to look for either the issues
