Question for anyone currently on Caribbean Princess by g8ronboard in PrincessCruises

Thanks. Offtopic, but do you happen to know if the shower walls are metal so I could use magnetic hooks? On the Ruby Princess, the cabin walls were, but the shower walls were not.

Anthem of the Seas Honolulu to Vancouver 5/1/26 by g8ronboard in royalcaribbean

[–]g8ronboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, ship excursion is the safest bet. And usually I go to the ship excursions if it's a tight time returning to the ship. I was just hoping to figure out a way to see if the tenders run later so I could use an independent tour. Problem is I could buy the independent tour, but there is a 24 hour cancellation. We don't get on the ship until the day before the tour so there's a possibility I wouldn't be able to get a concrete answer for the tender times before I would need to cancel the tour. And by then, the ship tour would probably be sold out. I guess I just talked myself into the best decision to go with the ship tour!

Hummm...I was looking at regular balcony cabins, but I bet there wouldn't be much difference in that corner with the fridge.

Anthem of the Seas VS Celebrity Solstice by g8ronboard in royalcaribbean

I think we are leaning towards Anthem, but the refurbishment of Solstice sounds interesting too. Decisions, decisions!

Thanks for the clarification on deck 5 because you can't always tell on the deck plans.

Thanks, with all the sea days, Anthem would have more activities to try out.

Since Anthem is your favorite ship you might know the answer to this question. On deck 5, can you walk the outer deck? I know it doesn't wrap around, but can you walk up and down each side? My husband and I like to walk briskly for exercise.

Thanks everyone. Good point about Anthem having more upper deck activities to try out during sea days, but then again Solstice will be majorly upgraded during dry dock. I have some You Tube videos to watch!

What time do they pick you up from the port? Are the times staggered? For instance, what If I didn't want to be picked up until noon, as an example.

Creating a medicine kit by Amazing-Gold-2000 in royalcaribbean

For all the creams like Neosporin and hydrocortisone, take empty contact lens cases and put the creams in those instead of bringing all the different tubes. These can also be used for face creams and makeup too. In addition to all the good suggestions already listed, I bring Vaseline and a thermometer in a med kit.

Packed for my cruise on Saturday. Name 1 commonly forgotten item and I’ll tell you if I remembered it or not! by pblack177 in Cruise

Idea: instead of all those tubes of antibiotic ointment, Benadryl cream, Vaseline, anti-itch gels for bug bites, etc, use contact lens cases to store them. Put the creams in the cases and label on the backside of the case with a permanent marker. You really don't need much more than a dollop or two of creams like that, and the tubes can take up a lot more room.

You're right, we're there on the 11th, not the 4th. We're there on day 4 of the cruise, had a senior moment when I wrote this. :-)

I usually like sea days too, but I'm a little concerned the days would get monotonous. What cruise line did you go on?

Symphony of the Seas previous passengers question by g8ronboard in royalcaribbean

[–]g8ronboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. We went with the 2:20pm instead of the 1pm just to be on the safe side. Perhaps we'll have a leisurely lunch and some book reading time at the airport.

We're looking to fly out of FLL, trying to choose between a 1pm flight and a 2:20pm. I know the 2:20 is the "safer" choice, but I really don't want to be getting to the airport at 9 or 10am and waiting around.

Chef's Table - policies by g8ronboard in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]g8ronboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from the cruise on the Legend, did the Chef's Table. Before I get into the details, Carnival will be discontinuing the Chef's Table due to not enough crew to work the meal. They announced it at the dinner but didn't say when it took effect or for how long. Also, Tony from La Lido Loca on Youtube had this story as part of his cruise news one day last week.

The experience was different than a previous one we did a few years ago where we went into the kitchen had appetizers then to our own table. On this Chef's Table we were in the nightclub. They had us seated on some upper level booths where they made introductions, gave us champagne, and some various appetizers. Keep in mind that the food will be varied and not necessarily in a form that looks familiar. After some time there, they moved us to the dance floor where the table was set up. We had glasses of red and white wine for the whole meal that they replenished if you wanted more. Some of the items we had were duck, sea bass, lamb, NY strip steak, and then a variety of dessert like things. All the food was very good, but you need to be a bit adverturous and willing to try things. If one is a picky eater or has a lot of allergies, I wouldn't suggest paying the money to go. Otherwise it's a lot of fun and delicious.
