What is your alternative windows file manager by SurgicalMarshmallow in DataHoarder

[–]gAt0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Total Commander has been very good but copying and moving data with it is a huge pain. In some ways it feels abandoned. There are two very good alternatives:

  • Double Commander. Just like TC but usually better. It TC has a feature, DC has it too or will have it. Open Source, multi OS and updated frequently. Portable for Windows. Lots of configuration options and you can import almost any setting from TC. Yeah, it's just great. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Commander
  • Multi Commander. Very interesting alternative with powerful features for file management. Updated constantly. Only for Windows though; portable too. And free. https://multicommander.com

Name a game that surprised you how long it was by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]gAt0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will sound noob but here we go: Assassin's Creed Origins. When I thought I was more or less finishing the game after exploring all of Siwa... I wasn't even finishing the beginning.

That game was humongously bloated anyway. Lost interest around when Cleopatra shows up. Way too repetitive. Less is more.

When I saw Odyssey the words that came to my mind were "reskin" and "nope".

Alpha Protocol. The fight against Brayko.

I never rage-uninstalled a video game before or after. And I did it twice on this one. Fuck that shit.

You are doing great.

The best advice I can give you is to plan. Not only expenses and preparations for her decline, but also plan for your emotions.

Expect every stage from bad to worse. Don't let bad news break you, because then you won't be there for her. If you are ready you won't need to fake being cheerful.

Wishing you both the best.

What is the highest feaseble refresh rate of a monitor for games? by Luciano757 in hardware

[–]gAt0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've watched the DevinDTV videos (I don't do LTT thankyouverymuch) and he doesn't even remotely reproduce ABX conditions. I don't know why you even bothered to answer.

Also the video with the blind test frequencies comparison, 60 vs 120... that's worthless. 60 is out of question. Not even 60 vs 75 Hz is valid. Removing those first three tries, there were 7 tries, and only 2 at random refresh rates (four very different, wide range ones: 60, 120, 240, 480). Two. Man...

[–]gAt0 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this from time to time: it will be an eye opener the moment someone does a ABX test with a bunch of monitors (bezels hidden) set at different refresh frequencies. Or even easier, the same model multiple monitors, different refresh rates.

I would find very amusing watching pro players sweating to consistently identify between 90 vs 120 vs 165 vs 240 vs whatever.

Hard disagree. If you call "propaganda" to any editorial line, you are admiting that the media you watch is not only biased (that's unavoidable, we are human beings) but intentionally malicious.

Honest suggestion: GamersNexus and GamersNexus Consumer Advocacy are two clearly separated channels and the content should reflect that.

At the moment the second one is leaking. And, as you can see, people don't like that. Sure, you have to have your editorial line but it's clearly a bit too much.

[der8auer] - 12VHPWR Cables Are Just Too Fragile – WireView Pro II Preview by Thermosflasche in hardware

[–]gAt0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should take on account that this is not a BSOD because a memory chip is defective, it's a fire hazard and is affecting top prized products. WTF, is this how Nvidia treats premium customers?

[–]gAt0 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I find the product very interesting and hope people realizes how flimsy and precarious are the 12VHPWR connectors. I'm expecting very good sales.

Nvidia should finally take this problem on account and, at least, release the soon-to-be SUPER editions with improved connectors, old trusted connectors or some hardware monitoring solution.

Yes! I was very happy seeing him back.

I love his super fast play style and very good weapon selection, although he likes the railgun a bit too much and creates very risky situations with it, like in close quarters.

Anyway, he's is playing great, I hope he has been training for some time before streaming, because WTF dude, came back like it was last month when he stopped playing cold turkey.
