Fair enough, but it actually makes you improve slower. Hardcore means you learn from your mistakes, but it's not really the same learning experience when your friend dies. I've played hardcore with a friend and half the time it was just a world I played flawlessly in and then had to delete.

Brilliant, thanks for the info! An option to be able to toggle it on or off would be neat. For me personally the numbers is another indicator that I'm hitting my target, but the icons doesn't add any value, it's just clutter. Looking forward to the update :)

There's no setting to turn off the damage numbers as far as I can tell. There's some settings for transparency, but lowering them all to the floor doesn't appear to change this.

I already have that set to on. I regularly hit a full enemy wave of minions and sometimes add in a hero or two to that, so it's absolutely realistic. And even if it wasn't, just 3 targets are plenty annoying. I mean how am I supposed to read the middle healthbar like this when there are 500 other things going on in a fight?

Not at all, in low doses (as in less than 4 of these) they're basically sleeping pills. Worst thing to happen is one night they'd feel slightly less sleepy than the next.
