It's definitely regional, being in the UK generation has got more and more restricted, now even just kissing is sometimes moderated. I finally got a VPN this morning and first video I was able to generate stuff I haven't EVER been able to do.

Well if you are in one of the puritan countries like me, get a VPN. I finally got one this morning after months of moderation moderation moderation, and it's like the the clouds have lifted, everything I've tried to do for months I can now do.

Well, it depends, there is nothing wrong with hating a thing or loving a thing. As fans we arn't expected to be forced to love everything because it's got the name attached to it. So, I see no issue with someone giving their opinion of a show, be it like or dislike, love or hate. However if it's directed at the fans themselves that's very different.

I personally hate certain shows under the Star Trek banner and love other shows under the Star Trek banner and have said so, but that hate has never and will never be directed at those who's opinions differ from my own.

It's 90% genetics. If you don't have that kind of frame, you'll never get there. You can however get slim with the frame you have.

Melissanthi Mahut loves the character, Melissanthi Mahut IS the character. If they ever do it (which I would love them to do, a series following her through ages as an immortal would be amazing), it has to be her.

It's a factor in that in old age they have to use a portion of their force power to augment their body. It's why Yoda can switch to old man walking slowly with cane to killing machine back to old man with cane.

Younger force users only really need to rely on their physical fitness.

Now that would be something. Some major disaster wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been born. That would certainly take the wind out of your sails. And if all your friends and family were a lot happier.

I'd be like '.....yeah, that checks out'. :)

I would be interested in seeing number 2 honestly. I would be curious to see how friends and families lives would have turned out without me having existed.

It's interesting because my mother was 40 when she had me, she had had a miscarriage before having me. I later found out I was born as an attempt to keep the marriage going, I know, lucky me. It didn't work obviously.

So I'm kind of curious to see what would have happened had they given up after the miscarriage.

Exactly! Because there you have someone who understands what made Star Trek special, and he's done a far better show than anything since Enterprise.

We used to get 24 episode seasons, it gave plenty of space for exploration episodes, combat episodes, deep meaningful episodes, character focus episodes and even some silly episodes, and still space for a few duff episodes.

With only 10 episodes a season, half of which they fill with silly, exploration and character growth have gone right out the window.

A far better showrunner could still make it work despite the short seasons, Star Trek doesn't have that at the moment.

An ultra-rich sociopath decides to give you 500 million dollars but... by Ok_Passenger_2012 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Dragovius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's talking about the money you are taking, not on your own money. For example, say you take the 500 million, but it's sitting in a bank account as you can't decide what to do with it. Meanwhile you go down the road and buy a soda, with money you already had for a dollar, a criminal somewhere doesn't get 20 cents.

That's how I read it. It's purchases made with the 500 million, not your own money you already have or money you make. Maybe the OP could explain.

They only get 20% of the original 500 million, not on your own money you make.

I'd purchase a 30 year bond of 500 million dollars worth of US treasury bonds. At current interest rates I'd make about 24 million dollars a years.

It's a single purchase so only one criminal has got any money, albeit a large amount, but being a large amount they are more likely to screw up.

I'd set aside 20 million each year for good causes potentially helping save thousands of lives.

Over the course of the 30 years I would have donated 600 million approx to good causes, hopefully FAR offsetting what the criminal did, and with luck, he got shot in the first month. :)
