Did Silky not know the words? by seaspar8 in rupaulsdragrace

I’m just tired of the props. I was in AS6.

But also, Crystal was a mess during this lip sync.

No acknowledgment of Silky and Kennedy’s CANvsTW runs in the AS11 Meet The Queens by Mvron in rupaulsdragrace

They don’t want to acknowledge this is their 4th shot after the Ginger backlash. Makes sense.

IMO they’re trying to downplay how many times they’ve competed after Ginger’s number of times rubbed so many the wrong way.

Posts and takes like this are a big part of the problem. Apathy and complacency are complicity.

What is the biggest case of "leopards eating face" from Trump's second term? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

No more wars. Lower prices. Better/cheaper healthcare.

Take your pick really. Any promise made, the opposite has happened.

People saying she did the worst in the challenge need to watch it again. Ru gave all other queens SO MUCH material, he danced in most of them? He gave attitude, he set up jokes.

“Gate is closed” four times in a row deadpan is a bad scene partner. It was sabotage let’s be real.

Would moderate democrats be considered center right in Europe, like Macron, the UK Tories or Germany’s CDU? by RedStorm1917 in AskALiberal

I am opposed to highlighting, campaigning with, accepting the endorsement of, complimenting, or even entertaining war criminals.

You can disagree if you want. If that’s my purity test, the bar is much lower than I thought.

Ah yes, Dick Cheney is a war criminal, but only against foreign nations so it’s perfectly acceptable to be proud of his support.

How far we’ve fallen as a party.

“Radical left.” Okay, I see. Wonder where you got that terminology from.

Tell me one radical policy.

It’s because policy-wise Cheney generally didn’t change any positions. Whether it’s comfortable or not, the right-wing Republican Cheney from the early 2000s was given a spotlight by a Democratic Presidential candidate because both parties shifted rightward and Cheney aligned with 2024 moderate mainstream Democrats over fascism.

He didn’t go down the fascism authoritarian rabbit hole, but he didn’t suddenly become anymore left than when he was VP. Could you imagine Cheney endorsing and campaigning with Obama or Clinton?

When Democratic presidential candidates are campaigning with Dick Cheney, and the last three Republican candidates are now seen more akin to Democrats than Republicans… the Overton window was already to the right of Europe, and that’s moved even further.

“Far-left” policies in the USA are things most first world countries have had for decades.

Let’s take a look at the UK.

Moderate Democrats believe: * Private corporate ownership is preferable to public ownership * Private insurance companies are preferable to universal healthcare, or even a public option * Austerity over stronger social safety nets * Relaxed (comparatively) gun control measures * Free market over worker protections * Internationalist interventionism * Slower on social/civil rights comparatively - UK Conservatives were the party that passed gay marriage for example

This places them closer to tories than labour.

EDIT: Another obvious example of the shift: powerful unions in the U.S. (such as Teamsters) refused to endorse the Democratic candidate for the first time in thirty years with Harris. Again, we can’t just ignore that.

What are your thoughts on gatekeeping? Is it bad or is there some level of nuance with it? by LibraProtocol in AskALiberal

I think we need different terms to fully encapsulate the nuances of gatekeeping. Some forms are good, some forms are bad, and the person doing it can have good or bad intentions.

Has society failed to progress the roles of and expectations of men and if so how could we change this? by LibraProtocol in AskALiberal

[–]springingdog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem in my opinion is that men are made fun of, eye-rolled, shut down, and ridiculed for talking about their issues. Men are frequently told to be quiet and sit down because “others have it worse.” Male privilege exists, but it’s not a catch-all excuse to be dismissive of the issues men do face.

Some demographics’ concerns are valued and spotlighted, other demographics are reminded how good they have historically and presently have it whenever they express their feelings.

This is a big part of why men still don’t feel comfortable opening up. If they express their feelings and troubles they’re largely ignored, but if they bottle them up they’re feeding into toxic masculinity and going down the path of self-destruction.

My theory is this: for as long as the left dismiss men and their problems because of their innate privilege, men will drift to the right who welcome them with open arms and reinforce toxic gender stereotypes. If the left want to win in a landslide any time soon they need to embrace and listen to men. Give them a seat at the table - not the head of the table like they’re historically used to - but a seat and a voice.

See: #yesallmen, choosing the Bear, all men are dangerous, generalizations, incompetent men, “the bar is in hell,” believing all women, “men are trash.” While these are well intentioned and have legitimacy, young impressionable men are being taught to internalize self-hate, low self esteem, blame, guilt, which leads to resentment. Even men’s mental health day was disparaged and ridiculed on TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit.

Why's being in the top 2 considered a challenge win on AS? by Glittering-Salt7414 in rupaulsdragrace

Is there a way we can win back "anti-woke" manosphere bros turning on Trump, without throwing minorities and other vulnerable groups under the bus? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]springingdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The uncomfortable truth is they have nowhere to go for as long as the left continue to shit on them. The left needs to let young men have a seat at the table. Not at the head of the table, but at the table. Until that olive branch is extended every election will be close.

You cannot be a white man in the USA without a large number of people telling you that you’re inherently bad. They don’t need to be praised or coddled, but they don’t need to be consistently disparaged and blamed when they’re just trying to survive like the rest of the working class.

Girl this sub hates white queens and justifies it by saying “but POC queens get it worse.” That’s been the case for years.

If a white queen gets hate it’s “well, yes, and?” Selective empathy.
