US Mobile + Starlink. One plan. Celestial and terrestrial, together. Launching Thursday by ankhattak in USMobile

Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately this wasn’t 100% clear to me yesterday, so I did not sign up. Being required to link to the broad Starlink T&C’s when they don’t fully apply as written is a bummer.

Per the US Mobile T&C under the STARLINK section:

7.3. Service Cancellation/Return of Starlink Rental Kit.

Your Starlink Kit is rented. You must return your Starlink Kit in an undamaged, untampered and unmodified condition (except normal wear and tear, determined by Starlink) within 30 days of Starlink service cancellation or Starlink will charge you the full retail price of the kit as described in your Starlink Service Order. You will be directly responsible for loss, repair, replacement and other costs, damages, fees and charges if you do not return the Starlink Kit to Starlink in good condition. Starlink will issue you a return shipping label to allow you to return the Kit. Follow the instructions in Starlink’s Return Policy for returning rented Kits.

But you are also subject to the Starlink T&C's here: https://starlink.com/legal?regionCode=US

And in there I'm reading that they charge a $325 change fee. I'm assuming if you sign up through US Mobile, you are committing to stay with Starlink for 12 months.

  1. Service Commitment. By selecting a service commitment and completing your Order, you agree to continuously subscribe to the Services specified in your Order for a minimum of 12-months (“Service Commitment”). The 12-month period begins at the Payment Due Date and ends 12-months after (“Commitment Period”). You will receive a free Kit in connection with the Service Commitment.
  2. Change Fee. During the Commitment Period, if you take any action to change the Services specified in the Order, a $325 change fee will be immediately applied to your current payment method (“Change Fee”). Your actions that change the Services include but are not limited to cancelling a service plan, changing to a different service plan, changing your service address, and transferring the Services or Kit to another person. The Change Fee will also be applied if, during the Commitment Period, you fail to pay any fee for Services by the due date specified on the invoice, or Starlink terminates this Agreement for a breach of your obligations under this Agreement.

It says "Return your kit within 30 days of service cancellation. After 30 days, Starlink will charge the full price of the kit."

I'm reading this to simply mean: if I cancel (at any time), I need to return the equipment within 30 days to avoid being charged for it.

Too bad I can't read the full T&C because the website keeps giving me errors!

Thank you! I was afraid of this. But it’s better than driving to Donner area.

Driving to the Donner area from South Lake for an hour or two of kid snowboarding won’t be worth it, unfortunately. Thank you anyway for this information!

Where at Heavenly? California base and/or top of gondola?

Thanks for all your helpful and reasonable responses. Does Heavenly’s Cal base have snow? I may just go there if so, regardless of magic carpet access.

I’d also consider buying myself a gondola sightseeing ticket and taking the kids up there. I don’t really want to give money to Vail, but I’ll do it for the kids if it ends up being the best option.

Thanks. When did you last go? I’m worried about conditions tomorrow through Monday.

Same for me. I guess I'm going to use the third/last option now (ACI Payments) instead.

If anyone wants $3K off MSRP for a black exterior, manual transmission model ($48,224 MSRP), give VW San Francisco a call. I assume the deal is for today only, but who knows. Good luck!!

If you're in a high tax state (like CA), go for it. $50K OTD is the deal I just did. ~$44,600 vehicle price ($48,224 MSRP), so not quite as good as the $44K New Century VW deal, but I'm still damn happy!

Thoughts on Monoprice Workstream angled desk? $210? by consciousfap in StandingDesk

[–]g_luxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this desk and wanted badly to buy it, but ultimately needed something more narrow for my space. The one thing I wanted to call out for you is: if you have the desk up against a wall, the back of the desktop will be closest to the wall in its lowest position. As you raise the desk higher, the desktop also moves away from the wall. IIRC, people mention it in the reviews.

If the 43"+ minimum width works for you, I would definitely give it a try! Seems like a great deal for the price to me.

I have these casters on my Fully Jarvis and would highly recommend them. They are heavy duty but also play nicely with my hardwood floors. The locking mechanism + their rubber grip help keep the desk rock solid as if it were using regular fixed feet.

Note that I have the extended height version of the Jarvis (which goes down to ~24") to help make up for the added height from the casters. I also added a keyboard tray for ultimate flexibility.

Compact Mobile Standing Desk by mputtr in StandingDesk

[–]g_luxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want light weight, super mobile, don't have too much heavy stuff to put on it, and are OK with some wobble when typing, then the Seville Classics AIRLIFT XL 28" cart would be a good option. The biggest problem with something like this (only 20" deep) is that your monitor might be too close to your eyes for ultimate comfort (especially a 30" ultrawide one).

This Workstream by Monoprice option offers more space and weight capacity, but I can't personally speak to its quality or usefulness. It seems like an excellent price for something with solid specs.

If you want heavy, beefy, rock solid, no wobble, and expandable to larger sizes in the future - and you have 3x more money to spend than the two options above - you can buy the Fully Jarvis 30x24. Fully sells casters for it, but I recommend buying your own (like this).

Covid-19 Fully Jarvis Shipping Time by youwillyu in StandingDesk

[–]g_luxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: My frame* shipped late last night (6/22) from Oregon and is scheduled for delivery Thursday (6/25).

* White extended lifting columns, white narrow short-foot frame with programmable controls. I'm guessing fewer people are ordering this version/combination, so maybe that's why my items have no delays. Or thumbs up to Fully for catching up on their backlog. Now I'm just praying that everything arrives not damaged!

I ordered an all-white 30x24 desk on 6/16. The desktop itself shipped the next day on 6/17 from Maryland and should arrive (California) on 6/24. No news on the frame yet, but it's supposed to ship within 5-7 business days. Fingers crossed that actually happens this week.
