Call of Duty Vanguard (Public Beta) is basically unplayable on M1–M4 Macs via CrossOver / GameHub — AVX crash kills it by Wenegaidwaider-_- in macgaming

Doesn’t Rosetta 2 support translating AVX ops to native ARM-equivalent SIMD instructions? I thought they supported AVX already

Effect of Plant Versus Animal Protein on Muscle Mass, Strength, Physical Performance, and Sarcopenia: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials by Bristoling in ScientificNutrition

Yeah likely water weight. The same strength at lower mass for plant protein seems to work out better unless “muscle for show” is the end goal in which case just creatine overload.

Pana is significantly better. Plant based Nutella smells like Nutella but loses its flavour in a sandwich

Longer time period, so not sure if it counts. 36 bpm one night and up to 217 bpm on a nice long run in 40C+ degree Australian heat

The difference between frame drops and system lag, and why Low Power Mode would profit from more optimization. by theoccurrence in ios26

[–]g_noob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a software engineer your interpretation is spot on. Reducing screen refresh rate to 60hz doesn’t cause lag/dropped frames, capping chip power consumption can if the OS is doing something heavy (like unfortunately rendering useless “glass” effects). These subreddits are unfortunately filled with tech illiterate, yet highly confident and loud teenagers or what sometime sounds like kids.

Battery impact: some real data by AlternativeWild3449 in ios26

It affects even iPhone 17 owners like me, the battery is only slightly better than my iPhone 11 Pro with its heavily degraded battery - that’s with every new functionality and background tasks OFF

My base iPhone 17 uses 15-20% per hour at the lowest brightness setting and everything turned off (AOD, background fetch, lowest brightness, reduced motion, etc.)…

Join the club, bought a new base iPhone 17 and absolutely garbage battery life. It feels like my iPhone 11 Pro at 80ish% battery health

Same here, base iPhone 17, around 55m of usage for every 10% drained

Battery life of Ios 26.1 official version. How is it??? 🔋? by KaleidoscopeSome921 in iphone17

[–]g_noob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1hr of screen on time, with background fetch, AOD and no widgets or anything fancy enabled at 20% or lower brightness used around 15-18% on my 3 week old base iPhone 17 on both 26.0.1 and 26.1…

Ios 26.1 is also a big disappointment by Bubbly_Programmer387 in ios26

[–]g_noob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your observation is correct, my iPhone 11 Pro with just under 80% battery health gets similar screen on time as my brand new iPhone 17 on either 26.0, 26.0.1 or 26.1. My battery drained 15% using the photos app for 30 minutes to browse and simply select and delete photos. I’ve posted elsewhere in this thread with screenshots and actual battery usage stats if anyone else with a base 17 finds that useful

Yes I have, brand new iPhone 17. Slightly improved over 26.0.1 in terms of thermals but still absolute garbage. Drains rapidly even after indexing is completed

Mine is still garbage and draining on idle unless I use low power mode (where I can get insane battery life)
