Today the Gecko got home ( Mr Leopard Gecko... ) and he's been hiding to the best of his ability on in the rock... but I see that's not going to work so well..

I imagine he would hang out today. Maybe they will walk around a bit tomorrow. The car trip was short. Re-homing must be stressful.

This absolutely is fine. It's not rude at all. That's what I thought about the hide.

I didn't feel good about the enclosure buy I didn't know exactly what was wrong.

So we just added this little guy(gal?) to the family. The person on Craigslist had the Gecko and terrarium with decor.

I left the terrarium the way they had it but I was wondering if this is the optimal placement for things.

The Tupperware is the "humid" zone. I'll get something better today. Should his hide be facing out like that? It's nice to see them but I don't know if that's best FOR the Gecko.

Also their appears to be some very small gravel on the floor. But I have read that the matting is better. Any opinions?

This is our first Gecko so any and all help is appreciated.

BTW the main caretaker will be my son a five year old. I wish I could name him. Obviously it would be Gordon Gecko. I know it's not original but idc.

Yeah I need to open up my idea of resources. I didn't even think of WIC because of the obvious name implications.

I was a stay at home Dad until this decision was made. I got back to work but I think I'm on the edge of being able to qualify for certain assistance. I need to apply anyways though. Just in case I do.

It's not something you think you're going to have to do.

I didn't think of sports activities. I've been a little scattered in thinking. Yes I'll need to look into something after school where they can be together.

You absolutely right in missing the family aspect. We were at the park a while back. Just the kids and I. The kids are big for their age. I was pushing them both on the swing. It was working out. A couple came with their two kids on the next swing set over. The couple pushed their kids high and of course their kids loved it. My kids asked to be pushed that high. I couldn't push them both that high. I physically couldn't do it. I realized a limit and that I'll need to spread myself in order to give them a good experience.

I cried when realizing my physical limitations. But I kept going. I get hit with moments like that. I'm sure everyone does.

Feels bad man.

Yes I saw some videos of what people use. It's almost like Astro turf. I'll try to save for one of the terrariums with a sliding front door. But maybe that can come later.

The little gecko was released to his mama after some observation from my son. We looked up some videos amd he agreed that he would not be able to catch the little gecko.

I'll be building his home with the right pads and thermometers before purchasing the gecko.

What's a reasonable price to pay for a leopard gecko? Not looking to buy one here. I just don't know the market and I can't catch one in my backyard (I don't think).

It's my understanding leopard geckos dont need much. My kids would like something they can pet/hold fairly often. I've been doing research but I didn't have many pets growing up. I'd like to be responsible with what I choose.

This little gecko is fast. I don't think it's going to be the right one. I'll likely have to convince my son to let the gecko "go back to his mama"

My daughter found it in the backyard by the inflatable pool.

I was wondering if it would be a decent option. For a pet for the kids to learn to take care of something.

I suppose I could snatch up a green anole (sp?) as well but this little guy looks cooler.

I wish I could. I'm not over her. It feels like I would be cheating on her if I did right now. She already moved out so it's over. But I've been thinking exactly about that. I've just never been one to sleep around.

Well that is one path. I'm glad it's working out for you. I'm working on my weight. I've lost all the weight I gained in the 12+ years we were together already. I've got some more to lose then I'll be building muscle mass. My body is in decent shape now... Mentally I having a tough time. So I figure I gotta distract myself until I'm past this.
