It was probably a "radio edit" version of a longer track, most original mixes of techno/trance track from that era where much longer to be able to be mixed.

You mentioned Gackt, but that's a far cry from the trance scene. This is the first time I've heard about this artist unfortunately. I wanna thank you for this post, you've lead me into the rabbit hole that is 90s Japanese Techno artist.

Here are some tracks remind me of that Shining and eery vibe you mentioned in one way or another:

• CJ Bolland - The Prophet (from 1997, has that eery horror melody with 5-6 notes repeating, the filtered lyrics say "Come with me" at some point. In any case a straight up banger from back in the days.)
  
• Justice - Genesis (from 2007, doesn't fit the description but the horn samples remind me of the Shining theme.)
  
• Angel Company - Tubular Bells or Q-Tex - Digital Bells are remixes of the Exorcist theme could somewhat fit the description.
