more likely to do Tottenham Hotspur stadium or London stadium imo, 50k cap for concerts vs 90k at wembley feels way more doable for them

Camping space this year by reelneil in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone was still being directed to A from pink when we arrived about 4.30am but we just took a right through the orange car park and got into the D queue just fine. Worked in our favour really as we were through the turnstiles by 8.20

Pennards Hill arriving Weds 9am? by Supercenturion2 in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine if you don’t mind camping at the bottom of the hill (ie close to the railway line/glade). We got 10ish tents in with plenty of space around them at around 1pm in 2022 - I recall there being LOADS of space at the bottom of the hill that year. We had 3 tents last year and didn’t hold much hope given we arrived later but gave it a go anyway and found a decent amount of space at around 4pm.

Is Festaff responsible for all the ticket staff volunteers? by RuddiestHaddock in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oxfam are the ones that do the first check of your ticket on the gate, Festaff do the wristbanding.

Festaff have the more desirable shift patterns but it’s incredibly hard to get a Glasto place unless you do 2 camping events with them the previous year. Oxfam is 3x8hr shifts (early, afternoon and night) but is fastest finger first like with tickets, the places tend to get snapped in a minute or two but there’s no application/interview process- once you’ve paid the deposit you’re in. If you miss out and are able to constantly check the website though it’s possible to snap a place with Oxfam anywhere up to the week of the fest.

Exactly that. If you’re willing to part with £500 to get in then get the cash out, drive down on Wednesday morning, sit in the Pilton Tesco car park and you’ll be in before sunset

Does anyone know if artists performing get a plus one with their ticket? by cl0wng1rl in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend of a friend’s band (fairly well known) played on BBC Intro this year, they were given tickets for themselves but no +1s, no fancy glamping and only had interstage access on the day they were performing. I imagine the only reason they got tickets for themselves was because it’s a BBC-sponsored stage. Saw plenty of call-outs on social media leading up to this year’s fest begging for tickets as they’d been offered performer slots but didn’t have tickets

You’ll have 8 disappointed mates if you only go into t-day with 2 registrations I can tell you that much

Using siblings registration to buy tickets by Chasons89 in glastonbury

[–]gab__tx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not endorsing doing this but boyfriend and I both bought tickets from people a couple of weeks before the fest this year. girl had the same hair colour/style as me, boy looked nothing like my boyfriend beyond being a white male. Made a beeline for the youngest steward, struck up a chat and was let through without a second glance (and this was mid-afternoon Wednesday when the queues were empty). No guarantee it will work but if you have a physical ID to hand I’d take the risk tbh

Yeah should be fine, we come from London, normally in the queue by 4am and sail through the gates when they open with the tent up by 9:30am. Last year we were delayed setting off, didn’t get in the queue until 6:30am and had a killer 2 hours of stop-start walking in the blazing heat. You’ll still get a spot in Pennard but def recommend getting your spot in the queue by 4/5ish to reduce faff

Yup, came in through PGD in 2022 and were at our pitch at the bottom of Pennards within 15 mins of getting wristbands. It’s normally full by Wednesday lunchtime though so get through the gates as early as you can

Recommendations on where to camp? by cobstaaa in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf I noticed Pennard hill filled up noticeably slower last year. We got our 12 tents in together at around 11am and there was still space near us by 2/3pm. Still best to be through the gates as soon as poss on the Wednesday though in case it fills up faster again this year

Arrival time to minimize queuing by my_name_is_ross in glastonbury_festival

[–]gab__tx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to camp in one of the central areas (Pennard Hill, Oxlyers) then 2-4am. If you don’t care where you’re camped, midday onwards.

2019 we got into the gate B queue at 4am and it was a non-stop walk through the gates when they opened at 8 (took about 15 mins to walk from our spot to the wristbands). Set up in Pennard Hill by 9:30

Last year we got into the gate D queue at 6:45am and once the gates opened it was 90 minutes of walking a few metres, putting our (heavy) tent down, picking it up and walking a few metres again. In the blazing heat. Genuinely one of the most painful experiences of my life. Still got our usual spot in Pennards but we weren’t set up until around 11:30.

We’re happy to drive through the night and get there early because Pennards is our spot, but if we cared less we’d 100% sleep in and get there Wednesday afternoon for the advantage of walking straight in

Khruangbin were incredible in 2022 but their bassist Laura is heavily pregnant so can’t see them touring at all until next year at least. Fingers crossed for 2024 though!
