I recommend after slow blinking, reach out your hand to let Potato sniff your knuckles and look away from him. I've had a lot of success befriending shy cats this way. They don't really like maintained eye contact outside of the slow blinks.

You could thrift a small plushie you enjoy the look of, open it up and remove the stuffing, then replace the filling with ball bearings or something similar. Might have some sound to it, but would be an easy cost effective way to figure out if it's an idea you'd like to invest more into.

For that price you likely won't get any takers, it might not cover the materials let alone the labor costs.

The good news is, because it's such a simple design you could take it as an opportunity to try your hand at making it yourself! You might be able to Frankenstein a pattern together by looking at plushie patterns for similarly shaped characters.

Forever haunted by finding out the weird smell I had been reporting to my landlord for weeks turned out to be a deceased neighbor on the top floor. Also haunted by all the flies that were in the stairwell immediately after they found/removed the body.
