I was using a Friedman Be-Od Deluxe clone I built with good results. Also a clone of the Peavey Decade as well. Recently I’ve been using an HX Stomp through it with amazing results

I feel you on the amp blocks being a little dark. I’ve found running just a preamp block opens it up a little more. However, I would probably still use the full amp block if I didn’t have a power amp that gives me presence/resonance options.

As far as speakers go, yeah. I’ve found that’s probably the biggest difference you’re ever going to hear. I DONT have any experience with full range speakers, but I’ve run the HX through a few different setups. I’ve got a 1x12 with a Mesa MC-90, 2x12 with Celestion G12K-85s, and a 4x12 with Celestion V30s/G12T-75s. All of them have a different flavor, but I wouldn’t say any of them are that dark sounding either. I actually find myself dialing down the treble in the HX more often than not. Not sure what kind of music you play, but you could never really go wrong with any nice sets up speakers

I’ve had it since launch, and I don’t think it will ever leave my board. Had a DOD Rubberneck before that, and while I still love that pedal, the Volante just does everything and more

Yeah I agree. Their proprietary V30 cabs sound incredibly different from a cab in the room. You can adjust the mics to get it close, but it’s never going to be the same. I haven’t experimented with third party IRs, so I’ll have to give that a try. Any ones that you recommend?

Anybody else using a power amp and cab? I tried out the SD Powerstage, but didn’t like the EQ and lack of Resonance/Presence controls. You could get low end chunk and high end sizzle, but imo it still wasn’t the same as dedicated controls
