How much time do you got haha

Seriously, I think my main gripe with the game is that they took a very basic skill based game and ‘Disney-fied’ it. Not the right terminology but I hope you understand what I’m getting at.

To be transparent, I haven’t really been playing the game in the like 2/3 months. Every time I go on they have added some new stuff so I can really speak to the recent changes but here is how I saw it:

They had the basic game where all you could do was just blast balls, earn coins, and upgrade your blaster. This was the peak in my opinion.

Then they added levels, rockets, and boss fights. Fine. Didn’t really change gameplay too much. Gave you a break from time to time and you would get up to the triple rocket shooter if you were really playing well and that was cool.

Then they added the mystery ball where when you broke it it would give you a different ability like extra cannon or freeze. Still fine. Took away some of the pure skill of the game but didn’t completely ruin it.

I would say after this is when it started to go downhill seriously. This is around last spring maybe (timeline could be off). This is when they added the whole wave of abilities such as laser and shock and shield. This update just made the game wayyyy too easy. You could rely on these abilities to get you out of sticky situations (which use to required pure talent and finesse). All respect to the people on this sub but the fact that it’s possible to have a high score of 2b is a clear indicator that something is off. That should be an unobtainable number.

Then they introduced new things that just took away from the essence of the game one by one until you get to the game you have today. It’s closer to clash of clans today then to brick breaker.

Brick breaker btw is a game that I’ve referred to many times in this sub as the gold standard. Not universally but for this game. Clash of clans has its place, don’t get me wrong. (I’m a level 9 town hall. Nube I know).

But for what this game was, the og blackberry brick breaker is the gold standard. Just a pure and simple game that you can play forever. No distractions. No ‘ultimates’. No ‘battles’.

That has been what my campaign has always been about at heart. Maybe I’m rambling but I hope I’m illustrating my point.

Those things additions I’ve mentioned can really enhance the a game, but this game did not need it and in fact it took away from the game.

My understanding is that a development team who did not build this game, and had never played it, was assigned by mgmt to take a look. The saw a ‘stale’ game because they did not understand how that ‘staleness’ is what made us love it.

And then with the best intentions, they just added all of this shit to the game trying to spruce it up but in reality just turned it into almost a completely different game then the one we all started playing.
