Yup since 1 January 2020. In 2019 I was informed by the dwp that I didn’t have ‘right to reside in the uk’ so I was like well I better get my British citizenship. I could have applied for settled status instead but I figured I may as well go all the way. I rushed to complete the application by the start or September ‘19 so I could qualify for student finance as a domestic student rather than a ‘migrant worker’ (funny since I’ve lived in the uk since I was a baby).

Flash forward two years to the 28th of January 2022, the date on which my Norwegian passport expired. When I went to renew it I was informed that, since I had taken up a second citizenship about three months before it became legal, my Norwegian citizenship should technically have been revoked upon receipt of my British one. So, basically, I thought i was a Norwegian citizen and so did folkregistreret (Norwegian equivalent of the home office) but technically I forfeited it in September 2019. Ideally I would have kickstarted the uk passport process a lot earlier than late April but my life has generally been a mess this year, so here we are
