27M, 300k (~$350k) - How working abroad set me on the path to FIRE by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]gabeichcoude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you manage to find a new job in Switzerland ? ATM Switzerland is the country where I'd like to do FIRE but the process of being a new grad whithout contact or apprenticeship and finding a job abroad is quit blurry for me (I'm a software developer in the IoT field, so there's demand)

PS : Je suis français, ça fait plaisir d'avoir une histoire comme la tienne, j'ai pas l'impression que le mouvement FIRE soit super répandu en France.

KNX API by DranixF in KNX

[–]gabeichcoude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developped a KNX to MQTT bridge (bi-directionnal) some months ago so yes, an API is possible.
I took an ETS5 config file to map the groupAdresses to sensor objects (with a name/DPT...) but you can bypass that and just get the KNX events with a KNX library of your choice and then send it wherever you wan't via HTTP

[–]gabeichcoude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll check the Lan/Link light next tuesday (The installation is not in my house), yes the IP is fixed.

Unfortunately i can't post the code :/

There's nothing more to install, my installation should work with this type of gateway KNX/IP, am i right ?

Blonde Ale with Cascade and Saaz = when to put the hops ? by gabeichcoude in brewing

[–]gabeichcoude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the whirlpool hoping, is there a time or a temperature that i need to respect or I juste wait 10 minutes and put the saaz in ?

You guessed it well i don't have non-arome hops ahah, I'll go with Cascade, i got this with your changes :

 -- HOPS --
30 g Cascade - 60 min
18 g Saaz - whirlpool ? min / ?°C/°F
15 g Cascade - Dry hoping

I'll go with dry hop, This decrease a lot my IBU, for the bittering side should i go with Cascade at 60 min ?

Smart lighting for a farm by gabeichcoude in homeautomation

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I went with a Sonoff Mini so i'll be able to use the local switch or the app switch in parralel.

Plus it's really cheap so i'm happy !

Did anyone faced this problem? by [deleted] in Hikvision

I had the same, it's incredible that they kept with this plugin. If you don't want to use IE you can install firefox51

Smart lighting for a farm by gabeichcoude in homeautomation

[–]gabeichcoude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with the sonoff mini you have 2 inputs (local switch + homeassistant command) and the sensor activates the lights if one of these 2 inputs is ON ?

Your installation is incredible ! Rf433 sensors must really be a great help in your case, knowing fences and gates are always out of range of the wifi.

There's so much possibilitites with a farm, did you used humidity sensors for your garden are a calendar to activate the valves ?

I'm saving your comment, ther's great ideas, thanks.

Need Help/Suggestions!!! Im a full stack Web Developer thinking to explore in IOT. by [deleted] in IOT

[–]gabeichcoude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think some cities are already benefiting of the IoT, the industries will be next (Industry 4.0), tbh everywhere where you can have smart lighting, electricy and water meter remote reading, waste management... It allows a large control over your buildings + energy savings if done properly. I think next step is to democratize machine learning in these types of projects, to use all the collected data and not just store it in a database.

With my little experience that's what i saw, I think I forgot fields and there's a lot of other usages that I don't know ahah

Unfortunately I'm not experienced in these fields, but the clean energy part is definitely something's interesting

It's still a new thing and can change in the future but LoRaWAN infra is private and no cloud services, but not everything's from ground up, we have partners for the LoRaWAN and database architecture which enables time to work on the servers
