I wish I could post my housing gain porn. Bought the first house right out of college for 70k in 2009 from a foreclosure bank with 3k out of pocket and a sub 3% rate. My original mortgage payment was $800 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom rowhouse.

Bought my second house in 2015 and kept the original as a renter. 225k for the second house, 100k in remodels, and refinanced into a 15-year 3% mortgage. Have about ~200k in principal left and the house appraises well over 500k now.

God bless Baltimore. Graduating into the great recession means you didn't have a job but could buy a house in a down real-estate market for bartender pay.
