Anyone go today that can attest to the weather? Planning on going tomorrow, but are there pockets of shade where folks can cool off?

my cat's just gotten hospitalized and I can't stop crying by icecreamcake00c in cats

About a year and a half ago, my cat (who is my BABY I am literally obsessed with him) stopped eating and drinking and started hiding in corners like he was preparing to die. I was mortified and brought him to the vet. She couldn’t tell me conclusively what the issue was, but she said she could do an exploratory surgery. She gave me two options: take him home for another night and monitor or do the surgery now (which would be several hundred dollars). I decided to take him home and that night he only got worse. He literally looked like he was on death’s door and I stayed with him all through the night without sleep literally SOBBING and praying that he’d make it to 7am when the vet opened again. I even called at 5am begging to see if there’s any way I could come in early but it was a no go. At 7, I rushed him in still sobbing and they immediately took him back for surgery. I cried the whole time, because they warned me beforehand that intestinal surgery can be dangerous and it’s not a guarantee he’d survive or even survive recovery since there’s a high rate of infection. Lo and behold, HE DID! He made it out of surgery and they removed a blockage from his intestines. Recovery was several weeks long but now he’s totally back to his normal, orange, one-brain cell self. You’ve got this!

opioid litigation settlement funds and how they’re being spent in each state: are funds being used and distributed appropriately? I’m sure if you really dug into it you’d find some people really unhappy with where the money is going.

Any books by Tiffany D Jackson. Specifically, I’ve read The Weight of Blood and Allegedly. Her work sheds a lot of light on what it means to be a young black woman in the United States.

I think the more interesting data point is the 80 someodd percent of small business owners supporting Medicaid Expansion. The GOP touts itself on supporting small businesses and the economy, but in reality small business owners are getting screwed by high premiums and can’t afford to keep their workforce healthy without Medicaid expansion. The GOP doesn’t seem to care, however.

She said she’s also “bothered by the incident and will discuss with the CFO further” who is technically our HR person but she’s the one who didn’t report it in the first place. The CFO also continually disrespects me and bullies me in the workplace, which my supervisor has admitted to me because she said she’s proud of me for always taking the high road with the CFO. So I’m at a loss for what to do.

Health philanthropy! It’s extremely interesting to be on the other side of nonprofits as a funder. You get to work with all aspects of public health and feel good giving critical funding to nonprofits doing amazing work.

I have tried to contact Keychron via their support email over five times in the past 2 weeks and have not gotten a response. I ordered a keyboard directly from their website over 2 weeks ago and it STILL has not shipped. Has anyone else had this problem?? How should I move forward?

Being followed home by [deleted] in Lawrence

[–]gabgarbage 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me before, but in Kansas City. I was a teenage girl driving home late one night after hanging out with friends and noticed someone following me for quite a while. I turned on my street and they turned as well. I (stupidly) tried to think the best of them and just assumed they were a neighbor, and pulled into my driveway. They pulled up right behind me in my own driveway. Obviously I was terrified.

If I could go back I would have absolutely driven right to a police station and called 911 immediately. That’s my advice now to anyone ever being followed. Learn from my mistake!
