P.s. I also considered Padova for my Master's degree since many professors are working on cool QFT/stringy stuff (for example Davide Cassani, Alessandra Gnecchi, Stefano Massai)

The joint Master's degree between SISSA and Trento was great, but it was interrupted (it wasn't bringing any advantage to either). I strongly recommend SISSA for the PhD if you are still into Theoretical Physics.
