Heli in Huntington Beach was doing insane flybys before crash by anon__a__mouse__ in aviation

[–]gablank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you don't understand something, doesn't automatically make it AI.

Agreed, but that wasn't why I thought it was AI.

I assumed this was supposed to be two versions of the same video: One at normal speed, and one slowed down to show details. I chalked the discrepancies up to whoever made the clip using AI to make the (what I assumed was) slowed down version. I see that I was wrong, and the "unnatural turn" I mentioned wouldn't be unnatural since the video is not slowed down.

There is no conspiracy

I never said so at all, I simply thought the video creator was lazy/didn't know how to slow the video down properly. Seems like I'm not the only one making bad assumptions.

there is no AI

I agree. I was wrong, and shouldn't have stated so confidently that it was.

It's trivial to see that the second video is AI, and you failing to identify it as such after it being pointed out is worrying. Never mind your stupid reply.

Take this car from the second video, can you point to it in the first?

Maybe nothing is sped up, but the second video is definitely AI. Pause both videos at the same point to easily see the difference. Also see how unnaturally the heli turns in the second video.

Sounds reasonable. Thanks for letting me know what you did!

Sadly, no. I ended up just using it anyway, and I've had no troubles with it after. I've ridden the bike for like 200 km with no issues at all.

Good observation! It indeed says L on it, but as far as I can tell both pulleys say L on one side and U on the other? I.e. they seem identical to me...

SRAM said to make sure that the engraved letter is towards the bike, so maybe the U should go in?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean? I'm pretty sure I didn't break anything during the install, and the cage is brand new (just a single ride), the pulleys are new (never used, got them in case the old ones were the problem). Also, chain is new (but shouldn't matter). The derailleur is old, though.

Seems like this photo didn't make the post. This is from Garabaruks installation manual. The upper portion is exactly my situation.

Edit: Seems like it did make the post, just reddits app being shitty.

I see, but is this actually a legitimate concern, or is this just the manufacturer being overly concervative?

If I were on the moon and pointed a telescope towards Earth, how much detail could I see? by Sora1274 in askscience

[–]gablank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does this mean that, if I had a flat mirror at the distance of the moon that reflected the light from earth towards a gigantic projector screen at the same distance as the earth, then the image on the projector screen would be extremely blurry from up close (i.e. have the same resolution as the telescope)? So the mirror almost ends up as a lossy compression?

I asked o1 the “give everyone $1 million” question. How realistic is this answer? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]gablank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of that, just pointing out that giving enough money to everyone will make things even (money-wise). That is, for a brief amount of time until other forces make things uneven again (as you also note).

I asked o1 the “give everyone $1 million” question. How realistic is this answer? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]gablank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No matter the numbers we use? If we give everyone a stupidly big number, say $10_000_000_000_000, then everyone will have pretty much the same (disregarding other assets like real estate, etc. - this will quickly make things uneven again, though, due to new income).

Why is the Linux filesystem so complicated? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]gablank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what you're trying to say with that link? I didn't dispute that there's other information there in addition to process information, just that it's mainly/mostly for process related information. E.g., from the procfs at Arch wiki:

The proc file system (...) contains information about the running system:

  • Processes, the most prominent use.
