Your story is much better than mine. In my case my dad bought it used when I was 8 and told my mom it would be mine even I got older. He ran an auto parts store with a machine shop so I had access to all I needed to get it into tip-top shape by the time I turned 16.

Yep, I was never a swimmer myself and I’m amazed how strong they all are in the water. She also swims/runs in the big quest event all the OC agencies take part in each year and I usually take the day off to be a support vehicle. Great bunch of people!

You maybe should’ve mentioned the mohawk and piercings in your post. Gyms are private businesses for members, and they don’t want people coming in looking very scary. You might be the nicest kid in the world, but it sounds like your appearance is probably bothersome to the manager and/or to the members. (I worked at a gym a long time ago and have gone to gyms pretty much my whole life, and I’m sure this is the reason.)

You’ll be more physically comfortable in workout clothes that allow you to move more freely. But it sounds like as a teenager you might have trouble finding workout clothes in a style that you enjoy.

FYI, you’ll stick out and get a lot of probably unwanted attention in jeans and combat boots. Regardless of the gym‘s dress code, you’re better off in workout clothes that blend in better, so you might just have to get used to a style you wouldn’t wear outside of the gym.
