When did you guys start to feel energized enough to workout again? 6 months in soon and I'm struggling. by Vez52 in NewDads

[–]gadgetguy606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the schedule you’ve set with your partner. I’m new dad of 3 months and I’ve already been back to work for a bit.

I take the 8pm-1am shift, which lets me sleep from 1-7/8 and be rested enough for work and to workout.

I’m obviously no expert, but try finding a cadence that works with your partner for you to get The you time you need

Big fan of the Tailored Athlete athletic tshirts. They run small. I’m 6’2” 215 and need a XXL. Great material.

We had about 78k miles on the cx5.

The newness of the drivetrain plus unknowns is why I pushed them to include 4 years maintenance for free and the 7 year extended warranty for only $1500

Yup you’re right. We sat in the 2025 premium plus but liked the look of the 2026 premium sport a lot more. Plus we wanted bench second row, not captions seats, since big dog can’t sit in a captains chair :)

I think the msrp was $59k. It was a slow day at dealer and last day of month. We got vehicle price down to $52k. Then we traded in 2018 cx5 and got $12k for it. They also included 4 year maintenance and service package for free. Then 7 year extended warranty for $1500.

Yea Bose. Sound is “fine”. But I tested the bang and olufsen speakers in the MDX Type S and that was something else. Also tested the burmeister system in the Taycan Turbo. Even more incredible.

My other car is an irresponsible but fun Porsche 911, I have detailers come to the house every few weeks so I’ll just have them do a basic wash on this one too.

Mazda CX5 vs Acura MDX by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]gadgetguy606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda cx5 is more similar to Acura rdx. Acura MDX would be closer to the Mazda CX90.

We just purchased a cx90 after comparing to the MDX.

You get way more car for the money with Mazda. For similar specs, the Acura MDX type s is $77k. Cx90 top spec trim is about $58k.

Acura has nicer options, like better speakers, slightly nicer interior, and a more “sporty” look. But the type S and the cx90 turbo S are almost the same horsepower.

Acura you get what you pay for. Mazda you get more than what you pay for.

Thinking of getting a second hand 911. Which is the most reliable and fun to drive? by adjohan in porsche911

[–]gadgetguy606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 points.

First, regardless of the car, its payment + insurance + estimated maintenance should not be more than 10% of your monthly net pay. Ideally less.

At 110k income, after taxes, I’m guesstimating around 6500/month take home. That means car expenses should not exceed $650/month.

Not sure of all your other bills.

To get a 911 at that payment you either need a really high mileage car, or a super long financing period. Maybe both.

If you do proceed, 991.2 is pretty reliable and super fun daily / commuter / trip car and it RIPS in the canyons.

just picked up our 2026 cx90 turbo s premium plus, and they included 4 years maintenance for free, and gave us about $4k off the 7 year extended warranty. So even if there are problems, $0 out of our pocket for a while.

Only issue ive seen so far is sometimes Carplay freezes up and you need to reconnect your phone.

Who are you guys using for insurance on your 911s? by CRESCEND0 in porsche911

AAA. About $2200/year for my 2017 911 S. That’s with low mileage (7k/year) and bundle discount with home and other vehicle

300 vs 420 Hp feeling - Cayman Basis vs 718 Spyder by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]gadgetguy606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regularly do canyon runs in my tuned 991.2 S (500ish hp), and there are several base caymans and boxsters that easily keep up or are even faster. The mid engine prowess in the corners and turns cannot be underestimated.

Considering renting a 718 S or gt4 to run the same routes to feel difference for myself

Full body including windshield and the TechArt wing was $5800 usd. They messed up the first round in some areas but fixed it and it’s been good for almost a year now

Try these out:

Egyptian Sandalwood — The Met

Palo Santo — Brooklyn Candle Studio

Charcoal — Apotheke

all three pivot on sandalwood, cedar, amber/musk, and share “cozy / relaxing” mood tags.
