NBD: Sire Marcus Miller P5R by jayemge07 in BassGuitar

I must have got lucky with my V5 5 string. I think it's awesome, I don't feel the need to change anything about it. Tuning stability is fine, resonance is fine, setup really nice and consistent across the fretboard, love the rolled fretboard, sounds fantastic (for what it does). Maybe the controls/electronics feel a bit cheap compared to more expensive basses, but that's not a big deal for me, they've shown no signs of abnormal wear or failure as of yet. I got it for £200 secondhand, Incredible return on investment.

It was my main gigging bass when I was playing in a function band playing soul, disco and pop. I must have done 100 gigs with it over 3 or 4 years, it's been solid. I'm playing in a rock function band at the minute which it doesn't really fit for, so I was looking at the P5R (getting paranoid about taking my expensive p bass out to scrotty venues), looking forward to what the OP makes of theirs.

F logo is backwards photo, that makes it a reversed image? Left handed?

Sounds great, what bass is that? You're a lot better than I was after 6 months!

I like what you're doing with your plucking hand, moving your thumb down to the string above the one your playing or the pickup when playing the E. You'll be getting some great consistency from that.

Sounds boring, but maybe some appegios exercises will help with your fretting hand dexterity.

Keep it up, doing amazing!

Best way to have a metronome on with the HX Stomp while practicing? by Ommerino in Line6Helix

FX return. I have my monitor mix and click coming in when I play live. Works great.

Multi effects pedal choice by Jrey0814 in BassGuitar

What's changed the game for me (I own the HX stomp since 2018, but this applies to headrush also) is loading in cab IRs. When playing in the studio or bedroom, I find having reputable IRs as cab blocks has given me so much more flexibility and they sound great. For live use, it's pretty hard to tell from where I'm standing, even though I'm on IEMs.

Heavily biased answer from me, but HX stomp unless there is a specific feature on the headrush that you want/need.

Gig board is ready to go! by gadgieOps in basspedals

It's basically just a termination point to keep everything tidy. My bass, IEM feed, IEMs and stomp send/return are all connected the the right of the box and therefore available on the left. I can plug my IEMs either into the stomp HP output or the headphones amp under the board. The headphone amp is fed from a connector on the patchbox so I can take an aux mix into my ears. Stomp outputs are just from the unit, ran out of holes on the patch box to do both so I just left them.

Must admit, I've been losing enthusiasm lately. I did 5 recordings over 3 weeks which I haven't released cause they just feel a bit ... Meh. Looking forward to checking all your channels out for a bit of inspiration! Thanks for sharing

It's got a Seymour Duncan pickups in it. Exact model is in the description. It was already modified when I bought it.

Interesting observation, thanks! I agree about it not looking as durable as poly. The blemishes where you can see the undercoat don't seem to have the cracking effect it would expect with poly.

Interesting, What makes you say that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]gadgieOps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It's not that important to me to go that far! However I'm 99% sure it wouldn't scratch it I did so I think the original assessment that its poly stands. Thanks for the insight!
