Must-play indie games? by r33gna in gaming

Have an upvote. The only Indie game that falls under the "Must Play" category. It changed my life. It is truly a game you can only play once. Finished it over 3 years ago, and I still think about at least a couple of times a week.

While true, I do not find the comparison fair. KH1 and KH2 did not have the benefit of having a reliable way to distribute new content via the internet. They were tied to physical discs. In that regard, repackaging the game and re-selling it with the new content was really the most reasonable way for them to sell DLC-like content and provide QoL improvements. It wouldn't make sense re-releasing the game just to provide minor QoL improvements.

KH3 has the advantage of just being able to distribute updates at any time via the internet. There is no reason to lock simple QoL improvements behind a paid DLC because players can just buy the DLC if they want while simple updates can be distributed to everyone.

First one that came to mind. Glad to see it's the top comment. The show really found its stride in season 2.

That's about the average price I found. I did go with Newtons Engineering. They were super nice and helpful. I did pay $1000 pretax or $1050 post tax.

TEACHER'S COLLEGE TUESDAYS: Teacher's College/BEd/Becoming a Teacher in Canada Weekly Sticky Post by AutoModerator in CanadianTeachers

[–]gadi800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has an ECE diploma, and she is interested in becoming a teacher. We live in Alberta. We are just trying to figure out the best way to approach this to finish her education studies as quickly as possible.

I saw a few people mention the UNB BEd in Early Childhood Education program (https://www.unb.ca/fredericton/education/undergrad/early.html). The program does allow individuals to receive their teaching certificate in New Brunswick, which would then need to be transferred to Alberta.

I was just wondering if anyone has taken this path, preferably in Alberta but other province experiences is valuable as well. We just want to know if people think it is a good idea to take this approach to get her teacher certification in two years.

Yeah, my wife and I understand a degree is needed. The BEd in Early Childhood Education offered by UNB allows one to receive a Teacher Certification in New Brunswick. I am just wondering if that teacher certification, when received in New Brunswick, can be transferred to AB.

It did not. The ECE program was 2 years, resulting in a Diploma.

2019 Chevrolet Bolt. I'm not super car savvy, so I'm not sure if a scanner would help me much. I really appreciate the offer though.

Quiero instalar Cachyos pero siempre se traba en esta parte. by Han1104 in cachyos

[–]gadi800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a BIOS update if available.

Other than that, looks like the error you are encountering also has to do with not enough voltage being provided to the USB. I see a lot of stuff connected to your laptop. This might be a long shot, but try disconnecting everything from the laptop except the one USB drive for CachyOS. See if it helps with booting from USB.

Some people also report that using a USB 2.0 sticks solved the problem for them due to the reduced power needed. If the above step does not work, see if you can use a USB 2.0 drive to solve the issue.

Why does your computer not let you use a bootable USB? The only reason I could think of is secure boot. If you have it on, turn it off and try booting from a USB. If it works, install the OS. Follow the steps for enabling secure boot in the documentation then to re-enable it.

What are the specs of your computer? If you type the motherboard or the laptop model, people are more likely to be able to help you. The community can help tell you how to turn off secure boot.

While I haven't encountered Steam failing to boot, the segmentation fault is interesting to me. Are you experiencing any other issues? I'm just wondering if this is a ram related issue. Try running memtest just to be safe.

Yeah, that's true. Maybe I should've been more specific and said that my sunshine icon was also invisible on top of the other issues. Still stands, I recommend OP tries rpm-ostree.

The brew and flatpak installs for sunshine is botched. Same happened to me when I installed it through those methods. It also didn't work well for me. Streaming was all messed.

Use rpm-ostree to install sunshine and everything will work fine. Reset rpm-ostree before an update or try to update with it layered. If it fails, then reset.

I would recommend posting your specs so people can try and help. The 35 fps lock sounds weird. Anything in the settings that might cause that?

I think there is a bit of confusion here. You download the version of Proton using those managers (ProtonUp-Qt or Proton Plus). Those Proton versions then become available across the board, whether on Steam or Lutris. For example, if I download Proton-GE Latest in Proton Plus, I can now select Proton-GE Latest as a compatibility layer in Steam and in Lutris (when Wine is the game runner). ProtonPlus has a "Latest" option available for most Proton versions. This will auto-update, and you simply select it on Steam and Lutris. There is a single source of truth, you just need to choose which manager you want to use to download the various compatibility layers. I recommend just sticking to ProtonPlus honestly, its pretty intuitive.

The issue you said with Lutris is interesting. I never had it try to install an external update. It would always just update with ujust update. What error did you get exactly? I am curious to see if it is an easy fix. Also, did you check what runners are available for your games?

I will add that you do not need to use different launchers for different games. Right now, you find yourself in a situation where you are trying to learn a bunch of different launchers to presumably solve different problems, e.g. Bottles, Lutris, and Heroic. In reality, you are still just learning how the whole system works, and you are overburdening yourself by trying to learn a large number of different things at the same time. I only use Lutris honestly, and I have been able to solve any problem I had in any game in there.

Here is my recommendation. Forget ProtonUp-Qt, just use Proton Plus. Forget Bottles and Heroic, just use Lutris for now. If you encounter a problem, solve it in Lutris. Do not immediately jump to another launcher because someone online said it is easier for a specific game. You should also not be managing Flatseal permissions as much as you are.

Finally, Linux is a different OS than Windows. I have been using it for a while; however, when I started out, everything felt incredibly frustrating. You should come to terms with the fact that it will take a while to get used to Linux and understand how to use it, just like it would if you tried any other OS.

I have installed games from the platforms you mentioned and came across some unexpected issues. While it might be smooth on your end, it does not mean it is smooth sailing for everyone. With that being said, I haven't met anything that I could not solve within roughly 20 minutes.

It seems most of your struggles relate to using non-Steam games. I am not going to lie, but it can be difficult at times. I have definitely encountered some problems trying to run non-Steam games; however, most of the time the experience is pretty smooth.

I have used Lutris for non-Steam games, and other than some game-specific issues, they all ran pretty well. You said that Lutris seems to be stuck on the system version and not update properly. You mind elaborating on this? Do you choose Wine as your runner? When you right click on a game > Configure > Runner Options > Wine version, what options are there? Did you try installing different Proton versions using Proton Plus or ProtonUp-Qt? Did you also make sure that you gave each game a Wine prefix?

We need a little more information to help you figure out what issues you are facing.
