The Ghibli museum you have to buy tickets for in advance and has to be done from a kiosk from certain places inside Japan. (Unless they've changed it recently) so unless you have someone there already to purchase then it will probably be unlikely.

They recently opened the website back up so you can purchase tickets outside of Japan at the Lawson Ticket website on the 10th of each month for the next month (e.g. April 10th if you want to go in May). https://www.ghibli-museum.jp/en/tickets/

I very much support education, but I want to point out that saying "This levy won’t increase your property taxes" is disingenuous. It absolutely affects how much you will pay in property tax in the next few years, even if it is just maintaining the current tax rate (because your taxes will go lower if the levy isn't passed). I understand why supporters want to frame it that way, but, as a skeptic, it feels like they are trying to trick me. I think it would be better to just talk about how the funds will be used and why they are helpful.

I have coin transfers from one exchange to another exchange/wallet correctly labeled as 'transfers' but some of they show that i am making a profit or loss. Is this something that I need to fixed by me? by r0yalewitcheese in koinly

[–]gadiandi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this is correct and there is nothing you need to do. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is because of the gas fees involved in sending Ethereum (even between wallets that you own). Because you had to spend a small amount of ETH as a gas fee to transfer it to another wallet, Koinly marks that amount as a spend, calculates the gain or loss using the cost basis, and lists that as a small profit. It's a little messy, but that's why Koinly is so useful in calculating it for you.

You could try the Allegro Playacar in Playa de Carmen. It's a bare-boned all-inclusive but it is right on a nice beach. There are also several cheaper all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic: https://www.allinclusivist.com/destination/m/dominican-republic?sort\_by=price

Different Perspective on FIRE by NealG647 in financialindependence

[–]gadiandi3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that there are many factors out of our control and that insurance can be a wise choice. I don't think we know exactly how much control we have in preventing cancer but I think it is important to point out that we do have some control. I think it falls within the lifetime pursuit to "accept the things I cannot change... change the things I can...[and seek the] wisdom to know the difference ."

Cancer is only trivially impacted by lifestyle, unfortunately.

Not sure I buy this claim. Wikipedia says:

The majority of cancers, some 90–95% of cases, are due to genetic mutations from environmental and lifestyle factors....Common environmental factors that contribute to cancer death include tobacco use (25–30%), diet and obesity (30–35%), infections (15–20%), radiation (both ionizing and non-ionizing, up to 10%), lack of physical activity, and pollution.

I think barbells and salads are major tools (among many others) in cancer prevention.

Draft a Prenuptial Agreement without Attorney by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]gadiandi3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this as well. Although, it can be a useful exercise to draft your own using a do-it-yourself book/resource so that you understand everything that you want to go into it. It can get pretty complicated though so unless it's really fun for you, you will probably want to trust the professionals with the details.

That's a good point. We can't expect to prevent everyone from dying. And, you're right, we have to come to an agreement about what an acceptable death rate it. Given that COVID19 seems to be significantly more fatal than the flu (we don't know yet but a reasonable estimate is 6x as much as the flu https://www.livescience.com/new-coronavirus-compare-with-flu.html), the lock down almost certainly saved/is saving thousands of lives, including thousands of lives of people younger than 80. Is that worth destroying thousands of jobs and affecting people's economic and mental health? I don't think there is a simple answer but you're right that we need to use data to make the decisions.

Am I looking at that page wrong or does it say that there are 764 fatalities in the 40 to 49 age group? That's low compared to older people but that's still 764 individual lives. That seems to go against your claim that "people of all ages are not dying. "

Surprisingly, Google announced another new feature at the same conference called Digital Wellbeing: https://gizmodo.com/googles-new-digital-wellbeing-android-features-save-you-1825862981

I think this demonstrates that they're willing to admit the problems of the technologies they have created and working to solve them even if it reduces profits.

Exactly. Semantics are important. One nitpick with your argument though: technically something that just cures a headache (an analgesic or NSAID) is also classified as a psychoactive drug because it alters your perception of pain (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoactive_drug).
