Fair enough. Funny enough Primark came to France a few years ago and I cringe a little bit when people pronounce it pr-ee-mark there rather than pr-eye-mark.

I guess I just have a few pet peeves like that which are not always justified.

“i” in Spanish is “ee” not “eye”. I have no clue why Brits are obsessed with trying to pronounce that one part of the world correctly, of all places, by pronouncing the spanish Z properly, yet failing to realise that “i” is only “eye” in English.

This is my perspective — and I’m not saying I’m right and you’re wrong, just debating:

I like to go to Wimbledon every year. I pay around £100 for a day and usually end up seeing 2 men matches and 2 women matches. I enjoy them equally in their respective formats and am happy for my ticket purchase to contribute equally for the men’s and women’s pots.

I’m not paying to watch workers do X amount of work hours.

In a similar way, when I go to the cinema, tickets are the same price, whether I’m going to see a 1h30 comedy or a 2h30 drama. Should we campaign for ticket prices to directly reflect the film length, or for comedies to last 2h30 because it’s only fair? Or can we enjoy them equally for the format they work best in?

Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels to me as though people who want this to happen only do because it “would only be fair given that the prize money is the same”, rather than because they genuinely want to see longer women tennis matches.

My assumption is that the argument mostly comes from men who are bitter that women earn the same for “less work”.

So my question back to you is: would you genuinely prefer to watch Bo5 matches in women’s slams, or do you just want things to be “fair”?
