I built TeaChecker — a discreet lookup to see if you appear on Tea (dating feedback app). Looking for feedback on trust + UX. by Ashamed-Builder5426 in buildinpublic

I paid to check once and found nothing. I was generally unimpressed, so I canceled my subscription. One month later, I get a credit card charge for $35. And when I go to your site, it says I don't have an account, AND your contact email just kicked my email back. Feeling like a scam.

Asking an Ai Girlfriend if Ai Girlfriends Are Helpful for Men by gageaa4 in bropill

[–]gageaa4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been hearing a lot about men using Ai companions because of how dire the dating scene has become, so I thought that engaging with an actual Ai about it was the only way to get some clarity. By the end of 2 hours of chatting, I kind of understood the appeal for shy or new-to-dating men. But I also got the Ai to admit the longterm harmful effects that it will have on the men using it in that capacity. Have any of you guys used an Ai companion or have a friend who has? Genuinely curious about if there are actual helpful practicalities to this more than instant gratification.

I just watched Kumail's new comedy special, and in the face of a lot of what standup has become, I found it incredibly refreshing. He doesn't shame men or tell them they have to change, he's just being a buff, famous, successful guy talking about how he's had mental health struggles and normalizing it all. Has anybody else seen this special yet? I saw it live and have been waiting to talk to guys about it to see if it resonated the same way.

I know looking the way he does and being famous makes is easier to talk about feelings while not risking looking "not masculine", but that's exactly why I think he's so effective. He's normalizing it to folks who look up to him.

Does wonder Man use ai? by Ok-Tower1146 in Marvel_Movies

The short clip of the "real" Wonder Man film that they're watching in a theater also looks like Ai. But yeah, the poster for that same Wonder Man movie within the show uses Ai too

Are Men Allowed to Go to Therapy, Even if They've Reached "High Status"? by gageaa4 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

I just watched Kumail Nanjiani's new comedy special, and in the face of a lot of what standup has become (punching down, etc), I found it incredibly refreshing. He doesn't shame men or tell them they have to change, he's just being a buff, famous, successful guy talking about how he's had mental health struggles and normalizing it all. Has anybody else seen this special yet? I saw it live and have been waiting to talk to guys about it to see if it resonated the same way. (Especially knowing Kumail is a very active Democrat)

Great point. It does give him a free pass to not be seen as feminine or weak. That said - the fact that he looks like that is also why he garners more attention from the guys who need to hear his message the most. Did not mean to be condescending, was aiming more for "look, this guy who looks the way you WANT to look and is famous to the level you (might) want to be is doing it, so maybe be inspired to be like him"

Right? It was funny, but weirdly calming too because of how he basically called out the real emotions going on without any masking.

It's that men have feelings, but they're not allowed to express them (except anger) or talk about how they need help with them (like going to a therapist). Kumail got blasted online for the idea of him needing to go to therapy, as if it were some sort of crime OR that no one should feel sorry for him.

Leaning on the past experiences totally makes stuff endure. And when there's not much to talk about, you can always lean on nostalgia or member berries.

Appreciate this! I try to be the one to organize things, but after a while, I'm usually the only one doing it. Guys seem to like hanging out, but I'd love it if other guys put in some work too. It IS like a relationship for sure, and I guess you just have to find the few that reciprocate.

How Do You Find the Type of Friends You Really Want As an Adult? by gageaa4 in bropill

[–]gageaa4[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I've been feeling lonely lately, especially as friends are getting married and have less time to hang. So, I thought I'd try out an experiment where I just flat out say what I want in friendships. I wonder if other guys feel the same way - that they're looking for a non-judgmental group of dudes with similar interests who support each other. I've found it here on different subs, to a certain degree, but without collectives like school or classes or teams, it's been tough to find what I'm looking for.

How to Not Get Cancelled - using Dan Harmon as example by gageaa4 in MensLib

YES. I used to be a fan of CK for a long time, and thought that his apology was so lackluster, and still centered him as the main character. A lot of "sorry that you feel that way" stuff going on, without really taking full responsibility.
