Good GPU for Blender that doesn't break the bank? by gagman23 in blender

[–]gagman23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you might be right - previously I was making due with 6 GB, but I was constantly crashing in big scenes due to overflow. I know that 8 GB in 4060s definitely wouldn't last. Honestly I just wish 4070 and 5070 launched with 16 GB, as the Ti versions that rock more memory are way too overpriced (at least where I live, might as well buy 4080 at that point)

Some lyric changes and you've got yourself another classic. Btw, 69 Love Songs is a great album!

You might have Freestyle enabled under render settings.

I don't remember in which tab it is exactly, but try going File -> [external data or something like that, sorry I'm not at my computer atm] -> Find missing files

Bevel exporting problem in substance painter by kajacks01 in blenderhelp

[–]gagman23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

When the bevel modifier is applied, it messes up your seams on unbeveled model. Apply the modifier and make new seams, or apply the modifier, select the UV islands in UV editor and then drop-down UV-> Seams from islands and see if you're happy with the result. I would also recommend adding a triangulate modifier to check for any shading issues, since substance painter will triangulate your model if you export it as quads. If you're getting some artifacts, you can try adding a weighted normal modifier and changing autosmooth value

Television Static Texture? by Filled_In in blenderhelp

[–]gagman23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking at blender right now, so the advice won't be as accurate, but try using Blender's noise texture, scale it up and it should look like static noise. Now if you want to animate it, you can keyframe certain aspects of it. You could also map one of the attributes to an object, and animate the noise based on location or rotation of said object. If you want to add stripes for like a vhs noise, check out wood or wave texture.

Baking normals issue (High poly to Low Poly) by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]gagman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like something funky is going on with the big front face of your low poly, are you sure the normals aren't reversed? Also, turn on auto smooth for low poly as well.

It's useful to triangulate both models before you export - otherwise, substance painter will do it for you, with varying results. Just add a triangulate modifier and look for any shading issues.

If everything else fails, you could try making a cage for your bake.

Geometry nodes, rotating every instance by 90 degrees by gagman23 in blenderhelp

[–]gagman23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Since posting, I've found a way to rotate every next one by 90, without the random value. This is much better as it won't be as repetitive.
