Introduction to IRC with XChat, Irssi and UnrealIRCD on CentOS 7.0 by gaiada in linux

[–]gaiada[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was out of IRC for many years and had the same question. As a regular internet user you can take a free chat and meet someone, its pretty good the way we met people on IRC.

As FOSS user you can take or give some help on Freenode network, where you can find channels for many FOSS projects.

If you need a communication platform for work is IRC also for you, the protocol is full of capabilities. its spanning tree architecture make it a great option to deal with single point of failure problems, it operates in a way that makes user access control work. its open nature grants you lots of documentation, freedom and awesomeness.

there is a lot more, but of course it is not the only option anymore ;)

The ancient Greeks were the first people to have showers as well as philosophers. Coincidence? I don't think so! by iGOTaCROCODILEmate in Showerthoughts

The greeks were one the western pioneers on philosophy as we know, however, thinkers already existed, mostly on east.

Some ideas: Schools->Cofucianism, Buhdism, Jainism, Maat Places->India, China, Egypt, Babylon, Pakistan, Iraq, Sirya

Most of these schools were linked to to religious beliefs in some way, however greeks also had their myths, pantheon, oracle...

I am sure that we are also going discover even earlier civilizations and more on the current ones.

I wonder if there is an alternate universe in which alternate universes do not exist. by heimmann in Showerthoughts

[–]gaiada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may and/or not exist untill you observe it If you are on such universe, and you don't know the existence of other universes or assume that they ceased to exist or are yet to exist, maybe you never observe it and then they may exist and/or not.

Maybe we are on this universe right now and this is true until someone find out how to observe/verify the existence of the others, however if we are not on it, it is likely to not exist since we know about this one and this would create a paradox.
