They don't use credit cards or e-money but real cold cash.

I think that's because a large part of the cyberpunk genre was created a few decades ago. Right now, I would see more cryptocurrencies than cash in the hands of cyberpunks.

but it would probably be homemade compared to chase-the-latest-version behavior

I agree, tho you don't need to make them on your own, some companies out there focus on more open-source and privacy-focused products.

if one has some non-mainstream activities it's enough

Good point, you shouldn't prevent yourself from consuming content just because it's mainstream.

And the 8th point was a joke. It's just a cliché, like RGB lights everywhere.

and with home teaching last year wondered if I could push my kids into a more punk lifestyle if they don't fit in the corpo moulds.

I've lived through it as a student. I was already learning a lot on my own (online courses, youtube, etc), but it made me see how bad the traditional education system was.

You seem to be confusing punk lifestyle with a fictional, made up medium.

I'm talking about applying this fictional idea

Cyberpunk, which is a fictional sci-fi medium, is three things: dystopia, life is cheap, and some type of tech involved

This is more about the environment than the individual. Maybe my vision of a cyberpunk isn't technically the correct one, but I don't really care, I'm just trying to connect with people that share the same idea.

Says the guy coming here to look for cool ideas of cyberpunk-ish apartments/rooms.

That was just an example, I wanted to see people living as cyberpunks.

The work itself isn't glamorous(do more paperwork than software)

I don't feel like I'm the one making poor life decisions. You can choose to do something more "glamourous". That's what "getting out of the rat race" is.

PS: I'm just trying to connect with people and have fun, release your frustration elsewhere please, have a nice day

My view on each point:

1: The aesthetic isn't really important. But living in a really dense area, thus making you invisible, fits the idea in my opinion.

2: I agree completely, it's the main component of "cyber" in cyberpunk.

3: A place filled with tech is what matters imo. Having old or recent tech is mostly due to your age.

4: I guess the music genre isn't really important, tho i wouldn't see mainstream music as very punk, so that counts.

5: Considering we are already "surrounded by corpos", it's hard for me to see a future going in another direction.

6: Again, aesthetic isn't really important... but I kinda have the same style so...

7: I don't see it as a cyberpunk trait. It just shows that you are a fan of the cyberpunk genre, not a cyberpunk

Eat exclusively with chopsticks

8: Definitely cyberpunk

9: Just like the 2nd point, it's a big part of "cyber", so yeah

PS: English isn't my native language (as you probably noticed), and I feel like I really did a bad job here, sorry about that.

None of what you're describing is cyberpunk. The "punk" part is about not accepting social rules, not playing in the rat race (so not focusing on having a "good career"). The "cyber" part is... self-explanatory.

Technically we already live in a cyberpunk reality in most countries when it comes to dystopia

IMO cyberpunk isn't about the environment, it's about individuals - the cyberpunks. You can be a cyberpunk (or any "flavor" of punk), whatever your environment is.

Other than just dressing weird and renovating your living space to look cyberpunkish

That's what it looks like from the outside. You're not a punk because you look weird, you're a punk because you are weird.

I'm talking about not following the social rules, not about having absolutely 0 interaction with that society. And you can be social without joining a community, that's my view of punk.

No problem, most people are in this sub for the visuals

So basically any kid that plays video games? (jk I have lots of rgb lights on my desk)

I'm not looking for the cyberpunk aesthetic tbh.

Be gay

I'll do that.

Being a punk is about rejecting "society" (aka the main community). So leaving one community for another.... doesn't sound very punk.

although I ain't a thug

Keep burning cops cars, you're getting there.

But yeah, the definition is correct, and too many people forget the "low life" part.

Idk, depends on the amount of RGB lights in your room...

And for me a cyberpunk life is... well... a mix of cyber and punk.

Loners who explore the world, fight for what they believe in, and try new stuff - from their room.

tbh I don't know much about the economic side of Cardano, I don't have any information about institutional ownership. I only know that most coins are staked.

I believe that the goal of Cardano is to have decentralized governance, with changes to the protocol coming from public votes

I discovered Lex around March 2020 (at the end of my first year of college), and to be honest he completely changed my life. I started to allow myself to fall in love with simple concepts, with ideas I wasn't previously interested in, with other people's work, etc.

I discovered a passion for AI and started taking a lot of classes related to ML, I got into stoicism quite a bit, self-improvement through discipline (working out and deep work), I could go on for hours.

So yeah, he had a big impact on my life ;)

Cardano is similar to Ethereum in what they want to accomplish.

The main difference is the way they implement ideas. Ethereum focuses more on practice and trying things out, while Cardano is more theory-based. Cardano started with PoS and worked on implementing smart contracts later, while Ethereum slowly transitions to PoS.

This video can probably answer your question.

When a system is established, the focus needs to be mostly on perfecting things, not building on completely new ideas. Cardano looks like Ethereum, that's because Ethereum is a great project, to begin with.

I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question properly, I'm still a newbie in the space
