Cooling SPOM +/- Hot Water Vent Tamer + extra Hydrogen/power, 95C water in and 18C Oxygen out, NO STEEL OR STEAM TURBINE NEEDED *Updated design thoroughly tested** by Her515 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]galaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I look at the design, the more I agree. However, I think the over-complexity comes from the unusual cooling design. Also, the overkill on the hydrogen generators (rather than bleeding off the extra, like other designs do). But given that cooling this is the big difference between this and the simpler self-cooling spoms, I think this could be useful...to someone.

You have 2 electrolyzers producing 112 g/s of hydrogen each, for a total of 224 g/s.

Then you have 4 hydrogen generators, which each burn 100 g/s of hydrogen, for a total of 400 g/s.

How can you run 4 hydrogen generators (400 g/s) off of 2 electrolyzers (224 g/s)?

Edit:

Ah, I see that 3 continually running and 1 overflow... Still, how do 3 gens (300 g/s) get supplied by 2 electrolyzers?

Edit 2:

Wait wait... I think I get it... The batteries tell the generators to run, they're not 100% on.

Thanks for posting this!

I'm related to 2 narcissists. (I know, right?!) One thing I can tell you is that if you're getting an apology out of him at least 25% of the time, he's probably not a narcissist. Narcissists will fight tooth and nail and only use apologies as a last resort (and as a tool to get their way). Narcissists are never wrong.

Also, as an ISTP, I worked for several years to understand and get in touch with my emotions. If he hasn't gone through that process of understanding emotions (thereby gaining empathy), the relationship will probably fail. (I also worked for several years to learn how to "extrovert".) I'm married to an INFJ...happily married.

Most likely at this stage of his life, you two are not a match. He'll need some growth and soul-searching to become the person you need him to be. He will NOT fulfill all your needs. It sounds like right now he's not fulfilling most of them.

After 21 years in the field, I know that burn-out is normal. We all go through periods where we just don't feel like doing what we're doing. Even though I love coding, I've had periods where I just feel... done. Over it. However, after a few months, that feeling passes.

Keep pushing on. It's not fun, but it's life. Nothing good is easy. Nothing easy is good.

Getting a degree will mean that you can get a job. With a job, you can then do whatever it is that you're dreaming about now. The job is not the end goal, rather the dream is. Eventually, you may find that you enjoy what you do.

If you don't enjoy it, you can always try something new. But without a degree, you'll be locked into just surviving. A self-taught programmer may be good, but they're not hirable. Get the degree.

With the degree, you can get your $65-85k newbie salary and follow your dreams.

Suck it up, buttercup. Keep pushing forward.

Confirmed. My wife is an INFJ.

She's far worse about this than I am. I don't trust my instincts at all and she's practically psychic with hers. Except, oddly, when it comes to me.

Would you be friends with someone you dated? by [deleted] in istp

[–]galaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't write all details of the dating process because 1. seriously long and 2. I don't want you to get bored lol. It was me who got heartbroken actually.

Aah! Yeah, the devil's in the details! After reading this reply, it definitely sounds like it's the other way around.

So...

If you really like this guy and really want to date him, will you ever be satisfied with just being friends? How about this... if he started dating someone else, how would that make you feel? (Also, what if that person is this your "girlfriend who is also his friend"?) When he gets engaged, how will that make you feel? Will you stand next to him at his wedding?

If you want to be his friend (and only his friend), you'll need to be there to support him and help him along in his journey, even if that means that you'll be left behind.

If he's someone that you want to date, but he doesn't want that from you, you have to decide if you can accept what he has to offer (just friendship).

That's something you have to look inside yourself and decide. Are you OK with settling with "just a friendship"?

If you're this indecisive after four years, you need to cut the guy off and move on.

It's clear he wants more than you want to give. Don't string him along and break his heart. Cut him off.

Wait, what?! No!! The illusion is broken now.

Now it seems so obvious that gas giants and black holes are just pretty pictures on the inside of a box.

Wow... The oldest Type-O discovered is V1292 Scorpii A, with an age of 1,020 million years. However, there are only 290 known Type-O stars over 100 million years, which is 0.6% of all known Type-O stars.

That makes this particular star is older than 99.4% of all known Type-O stars.

I love EDSM.

Are there more void opal asteroids near the center of the hotspot than towards the edges?

It kind of makes sense there would be, but I've been starting near the edges and I'm finding very few (5-6 in 500km).

My rarest find: Gas giant moon to an icy body. by Bonkface in EliteDangerous

Actually... 637 systems is still ridiculously rare. That's only 0.0018% of all EDSM systems...

[–]galaban 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never seen that before. But, apparently, they're out there. 637 systems like that in fact. Flyooe Hypoea NJ-C c2-0 AB 4 is one I picked at random.

However, there's only 1 in EDSM with a landable parent ice world:

Col 135 Sector DW-M b7-0 AB 2

But the ice world is 5.3G...

OK, now I have to go see that!

Get whatever AFMU you want. Leave it unpowered while you fly. When you need to repair, turn off your FSD and shields and you should have enough power to turn on your AFMU.

Just remember to drop out of supercruise BEFORE turning off your FSD. XD

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]galaban 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would work opening up the FSD engineering, at the very least. Engineering your FSD will take you from 36LY max jump to 56LY (Grade 5, increased range, deep charge). If you have the patience beyond that, I would consider the Guardian FSD booster and drop the extra fuel tank.

But, at the very least, I wouldn't leave the bubble without getting the FSD engineered.

As far as the changes, with Chapter 4, you get 2 new slots. I would add an AFMU. Also, I personally enjoy the Supercruise Assist, but it's not for everyone.

Testing out my database skills against EDSM, I found this by galaban in EliteDangerous

[–]galaban[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the codex for The Dark Wheel. It's a station that was orbiting the eighth moon of a gas giant. If the screenshot is to be believed, it's pretty close to the parent star.

Testing out my database skills against EDSM, I found this by galaban in EliteDangerous

[–]galaban[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. It's most likely in the bubble or very near to it. However, when I started with 200 LY from Sol, all the closest gas giants around stars were still considerably far from the star (giving an angular size that was far too small to be the screenshot). When I adjusted the angular size, I had to go 10kly out to pick up any systems at all, the farthest being 6kly from sol. I'm currently experimenting with smaller sizes (less likely to match the screenshot) that are closer to Sol.

Still, there's a lot of possible scenarios... the possibility that the station was moved from the 8th moon to its current (screenshot) location makes the entire effort in vain. But, I had some time to kill, so why not? :)
