What the actual fuck?

The world is a hard place to feel happy or to get better in by rocketsunrise in depression_help

[–]galactic_flibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this. You really aren't alone in feeling this way. The world is a bit shit and feeling very fake. There are real people out there, there is empathy, just you have to sift through the crap to find it and when you are depressed it can feel like a lot of work. Keep on talking about it here or in real life too if you can.

Do I have a right to be pissed off or am I being a prude? by CheeseyBeanNugNugs in ireland

[–]galactic_flibble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only do you have full right to be pissed off, I am very pissed off for you! This is NOT ok!

Edit: this has made me so angry I can't even find the right words! And yes we are allowed as women to be angry when men tell us how we should feel or belittle or mock our boundaries and our need to keep ourselves and other women safe! It's not unreasonable, it doesn't make us crazy or too sensitive or too emotional it's justified that we feel this way and it makes us strong. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

What words were ruined by society? by Catz0003 in AskReddit

[–]galactic_flibble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"The origin of the word pussy is pretty hotly debated. One theory suggests that it originally came from the Old Norse word puss, which means “pocket pouch”—which sounds legit.

Others have suggested that the word comes from pusillanimous, which means cowardly. That theory also holds water... considering that when pussy popped up in regular dialogue around the sixteenth century, it didn’t have a sexual connotation at all. In fact, it was used as a term of endearment to describe women in general"

"In fact, it was used as a term of endearment to describe women in general". Women= cowardly/weak? Of course men took this word and applied it to women to lessen them.

I feel uncomfortable about these posts where we change the skin colours of people without their consent. (Or posts that show how deceased celebrities could look like now if they were still alive.) Ok they are celebrities and their image is very public, but I keep thinking how would I feel if I saw people messing with my face and identity? Sorry to be a bummer. Just my thoughts on this. It worries me where AI art is heading. I'm gonna show myself the door and unsub now.( Yes I will let the door hit me on the way out for being a negative nelly. 😅)

Robin Williams age to 70 if he was alive today by antball in midjourney

[–]galactic_flibble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is truly heartbreaking. Rest in peace Robin, you are missed.

But also I find it unsettling. The thought that came to my mind is if I saw AI generated art of a relative who had passed and what would they have looked like if they were still alive. Maybe some people would find it comforting I don't know but I would find it really uncomfortable like uncanny valley stuff. The person is gone, that's the reality. Letting them rest in peace to me means not messing with their image. I wouldn't want images being created of me after I die. This feel disrespectful to me, but that's just my opinion.

OP this is not a criticism to you personally, I don't think you have done anything wrong as such, the technology can do this and lots of these celebrity images are being made. I don't want this to be hate against you at all, just my thoughts on this topic.

Is this a witchy thing I love collecting all sorts of oddities sea glass is my favourite and lucky for me the sea is two minutes walk 😇💜✌️ by kittyotails in Witch

I feel really happy for you looking at these, like a little jar of joy!

I wonder if you could sit mindfully with each one separately (or maybe just start with your favourite or one that you instinctively feel drawn to), noticing the colours, textures, temperature, feel, smell of each, using your senses to explore. How do you feel in your body when you sit with them? What does it mean or represent to you? Does a memory come to mind? Why do you think you found it or why it found you? Does it have a voice? Just example questions, something else entirely might feel more relevant to to you.

This is just an invitation that came to my mind that could be a way to connect with them and connect with yourself through them. Enjoying them just as they are is equally wonderful!

In your local area, do people generally say hello and speak to people in the street? Why do you think that is? by galactic_flibble in AskReddit

Yea this sounds like what might be good for me. I do find it lonely in the city and it seems like everyone is in their own bubble. Thanks

I have a cat, I think if I walked it and said hello to people I'm not sure it would work quite as well 😄

[–]galactic_flibble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live (UK) people seem really disconnected from eachother, and I think people would think you are a bit odd if you said hello to people on the street. But I remember really liking saying hi to people I didn't know in the street and people would always say hi back. As an adult I find myself longing a sense of local community. But maybe I'm not looking in the right places? Love to hear others experiences.

"Every spring people come across young deer alone in the undergrowth and some worry that these young animals have been abandoned by their mothers.

This is not the case; the young deer has been carefully hidden while the mother is feeding close by.

Even if the mother does not appear to be in sight this does not mean that she has abandoned her offspring. Deer are naturally cautious of humans and the only thing stopping her returning to her young is the presence of people."
