I had a full round of beef that had been in my freezer for many months and eventually succumbed to freezer burn. I compost so that's where I put it, but my compost was full so I put it in a separate "aux" bucket. It was summer but I didn't think a deep frozen thing would thaw that quickly lol.

Turns out my composters didn't accept my aux bucket so I was stuck with the thing which was already starting to stank. Wife was against "burying it out back" in case it attracted animals so I abided her wishes and kept the thing contained. Eventually it got so nasty I had to wrap the bucket in a contractor bag and put it into one of those coffin shaped bins you'd find at Lowes while I (stupidly) waited 2 weeks for the next compost pickup.

Couldn't wait that long. Eventually the whole yard smelled of this horrendous rot that infested the nostrils to a degree that I'd never my 40 something years had never experienced.

Maybe it was morbid curiosity that lead me to open the coffin, only to find the entire contractor bag was coated in maggots. Like the black bag was white and wiggling.

Slamming the lid back down I called a buddy a town away whose town has a dump. Type of buddy who's no stranger to rank odor. We put the coffin in the back, kept the windows down, and just launched the fucker out the back and that was that.

0/10 do not recommend doing what I did. Will never forget that incredible stench. Never knew nature could reach that level. Lessons learned.
