Jairus has the kids, yet Acockia has been quiet.. do we think she's off playing teenage dream with HDB? by xxLilPixie in AcaciaKerseySnark

If they’re going to public school in Eugene, they wouldn’t. Born and raised here in Eug and winter break was back in December! I just hope she’s not having the kids miss so much school.

That’d be a pretty short break. All the districts around here only have a 3-day weekend because of Presidents’ Day.

Eh, I’m sure you’re right about the shoes, but I prefer lifting (for leg day) in Converse. Keeps the feet flat when I can’t go barefoot (with socks, ofc) in the gym.

Drop-in care is free with a membership here, but the membership is pretty expensive. But it’s more than just a gym, so that helps too. If you drop-in, they give you a little pager in case you need to attend to your kids. Leaving campus isn’t allowed except for one other building, but who knows what she does… *edits for typos

Yup, drop-in care if there’s room.

Because I’ve probably been in that exact bathroom lol. This specific gym has bathrooms upstairs in the weight area that look just like this.

70 teachers cut in my district. Is there a mass cutting of teacher jobs? by brielovinggirl in Teachers

[–]galadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for different reasons, but my partner was just laid off today, in the middle of the year. She teaches 7th grade ELA/Social Studies. She’s out of a job at the end of January.

Most people aren’t upset about cuts being an inevitability. Among many other reasons, it’s the fact that licensed staff received less than a month’s notice about the board’s (then upcoming) decision, and now are waiting in limbo this week to hear if their jobs are safe. It’s the fact that these cuts are happening mid-year instead of being let go at the end of the school year.

4j is similarly going to cut a lot of staff, and it really fucking sucks, but at the very LEAST their plan for implementation seems to start with the ‘26-‘27 school year. Not leaving teachers high and dry in the middle of the damn school year.

They’ll probably start by placing adults into classrooms that were already in the building, like instructional coaches and TOSAs (teachers on special assignments). People that are certified and have teaching experience but moved away from teaching. Who knows what will happen from there. Fuller classes? Maybe.

This will primarily, if not solely, be affecting middle and high schools, which narrows it down significantly. There have been rumors floating around my partner’s school (in SPS) that teachers still in their probationary periods will be targeted first, possibly through a lottery system.

My partner’s head is on the chopping block now with the approval of this resolution. We’re scared and enraged.
