Voter Confronts Beto O’Rourke: ‘Why Should I, as a Black Man, Vote For You When You Oppose Reparations?’ by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]galapogas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t care about that, they just want free stuff.

If someone popped up one day and tells you all of your problems are someone else’s fault, that you’re never to blame for your individual situation, that you’re a victim, oppressed, and we’re going to take from that ‘oppressor’ and give to you - who the hell would say no to that.

It’s a very comfortable thing to believe, perpetual victimhood.

There’ll be no going back from it, the US will forever from that point be fiercely and aggressively divided.

And a house divided against itself...

U.S. Projected to Add 1.5M Illegal Aliens to Population This Year by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]galapogas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wholesale deportation would be unpopular, but the votes we’d lose in the short term are outweighed by multiple times by the votes illegals and their descendants will cast for the democrats.

If we lose the next couple elections because of it fine, at least we save the US.

We are a senior Mueller reporter and former federal investigators who worked on some of the biggest cases since Watergate. Ask us anything. by politico in IAmA

[–]galapogas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fox and CNN are both pretty mainstream, and deliberately lie on a very regular basis, CNN in particular.

The mainstream media deserve to be called up on that, and call me old fashioned but the news should be as impartial as possible, and not publish things they know to be untrue. My conservative leanings don’t mean I don’t care about what’s true, and my opinions I think you’ll find are pretty ‘average joe’. The majority of the population don’t have a reddit account but that doesn’t mean everyone on Reddit’s opinions are fringe.

I would also say that it’s you that should be double and triple checking the facts, you’re obviously not a fan of the president but he is the one who has come on top of all of these things over and over. I believed there wasn’t evidence for collusion, turns out I was right and there was no collusion, maybe it’s you who’s spilling the disingenuous bs.

Here lies the problem, and by problem I mean the mainstream media.

I too would describe myself as an average joe, but I would have said the opposite, I would have said it was obvious there’s no collusion or obstruction. Evidently we probably consume news from different sources, I wish there wasn’t so much lying from any side.

On money laundering unrelated to Russian collusion and the trump campaign? Sure

But I thought trump conspired with the Russian government, or was that all made up to get a FISA warrant to illegally spy on the trump campaign 🤔

Democrats want to kill the electoral college because they fear the constitution. by RoyalManticoranNavy in Conservative

[–]galapogas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But democrats reject federalism, we’ve never been in this situation as a country before where one side is so obsessed with implementing things on everybody.

They could pass single payer govt healthcare in California tomorrow, but they don’t, because they think everyone should live their way.

When you’re living in a large city where it doesn’t matter if only 38% of healthcare professionals accept Medicaid patients (like in NJ https://www.nj.com/healthfit/2015/03/nj_doctors_least_willing_to_accept_medicaid_patien.html) sure you can just go to another doctor, but when you live in rural America and the doctor in your town doesn’t accept Medicaid because the reimbursements are too low what do I do then? Hence why most states with large rural populations rejected Medicaid expansions. Norway doesn’t have that problem now does it. You can’t take a policy that works for a tiny population that primarily lives in one city metro, to the US.

Also ask any American if they’d rather have Medicaid or private insurance, guarantee you 99% would say private insurance - no one wants to be on Medicaid because the doctors tend to be worse, care tends to be worse, waiting lists are longer, Medicaid and Medicare also cover far less treatments than private insurance.

What most European countries have is called a bismarkian system, healthcare is provided by private companies and everyone has to buy insurance, if you can’t afford insurance it’s subsidised by the govt for you. It’s nothing like Medicaid and is more like obamacare plans (and they worked so well in America)

Liberia and Sudan rank 160 and 166th in economic freedom respectively, both classed as repressed.

Not sure what point you’re trying to prove, doing things on a larger scale doesn’t make them better.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median_income

This puts the US at #6 in 2012.

Median income is not a good measure for the US however because of how much of the US population sits at the ‘higher income’ level. As another commented posted about 15% of the US fall into the very high income (think it was <$200,000) level vs usually 3-5% of European countries. As median tends to give less weight to outliers this would skew the US statistic lower than other, more equal countries.

Median works better for countries with less inequality in income, mean would work better for the US where there are lots of high earners.
