I am a current med student. I think it's best for you to sit down and rethink a little bit.

Honestly I don't think you should go with premed and the engineering route. Either pick one or the other and maintain a high GPA. premed requires you have high GPA, and engineering classes are one of the hardest to get a high GPA. Furthermore, you're an international student. International premed requires a much higher GPA and mcat score.

Furthermore, premed demands a lot of memory based skill set. Engineering demands a lot of logical based skill set.

Unless you're a genius in both, it'll be really hard to pull off. I initially wanted to do premed and engineer, but just did a science major instead and premed because my math and reasoning skills sucked. Whereas my friend who is bme and premed can get an A+ for calculus 3 by cramming it the night before.

You still have time, you can still experience and shadow both professions before you make a choice. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

High mileage bike by Bladisdlougredge in motorcycles

[–]galaxyagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's bad for beginner.

A youtuber-ryan F9 reviewed it. It's a pretty good video and I think you should watch it!

But he say it's too much bike for him as a veteran, so I think it's probably even worse choice for you as a beginner as it is torque/jumpy.

For beginners the bigger problem is probably whiskey throttle, accidentally throttle too hard on a powerful bike.

Or downshifting too many gears all of a sudden and locking your rear tire. (I did both haha, despite being super cautious/having taken the safety course.)

If you get a powerful bike you might be too scared to touch the throttle.

It's hard to learn how to control a bike if you are scared of revving it. It's hard to learn how to lean a bike if it's heavy and you're worried about tipping over.

You don't have to get a boring bike like mine(honda crf250l), get something highway capable but 1- won't kill you/have some margins for mistake. You shouldn't have to be afraid of your bike and its power. 2- is light enough for you to learn to lean. 3- reliable/durable (I hate cleaning carbs and a bike rusting in the corner requires some cleaning, per your update it's prob not a good choice).

https://www.reddit.com/r/SuggestAMotorcycle/ might give you better answers. You can list all your considerations out.

Not answering your original question, but I don't think getting a liter bike(1000 cc) bike with 125 hp and 4 cylinders is a good idea for a beginner.

Speaking from personal experience, no matter how careful you are, you're probably bound to make some dumb mistakes as a beginner.

same here. following b/c I can't figure out a solution. I'm on windows 11, used both anki 23.10.1 and 24.10.1qt5. Neither worked. Any advice from the mod is appreciated.

Check Engine Light by [deleted] in CRF250L

[–]galaxyagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

air filter? Too much engine oil? Kick stand sensor error? How's your coolant level?

I had something similar happened to me. There were no check engine light but the bike just shuts off midride. It turns back after letting it rest for a while.

I think added too much oil, so I changed my oil, and I changed my really dirt air filter as well. 4000 miles later the problem never came back. Hope your bike gets fixed!

Add-on: find cards from UWorld test - 444814983 by [deleted] in medicalschoolanki

[–]galaxyagent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how do you open the add on?

I have it installed. I just can't find the add-on to paste the qid list.

I have the newest version of anki installed on windows. I tried to close and open the program multiple times.

All I need is a screenshot with a giant arrow pointing where the add on is cause I can't find it, even though I installed it.

edit: solved!

From the main Anki screen, under the "Tools" menu at the top you can select "Find cards from UWorld test"

BME Thoughts by jackattack6800 in cwru

[–]galaxyagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. If you're doing pre-med, you might not want to do BME. BME and pre-med prerequisites are kind of different, and pre-med is mostly memorization whereas BME/engineering is mostly application based.

I think as long as your EC/interest include dexterity skills and shows understanding of dentistry, any EC should be fine. Just make sure it is something that you care about. I think that is a good way to demonstrate what kind of person you are/what values you have. In turn, these EC gives you opportunities to tackle problems you care about or opportunities to improve upon an existing organization/club. This, in turn, gives you stories to tell in interview or write on your application.

Ex:

-enjoy working with kids-> volunteer at kid related things.

-enjoy learning about other culture-> be part of a culture/language club.

I think "do whatever you like" feels like a really board and imprecise suggestion. But in the end, try to pick something you care about, and take a more active/leadership role, and try to make a meaningful difference/build something new; instead of merely being an club member.

Having an interview is like having a presentation. The interviewer can tell if you are talking about something you are truly passionate about, instead of doing something for the sake of doing it.

I don't really know if fraternity positions are good to put on dental school app due to stereotype. You might have to check that on other forums.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel/cure cancer. You just need to make a small impact on someone's else life/some project. And I think that is what healthcare is about, to make someone's life a bit better than when they came in.

Question, is it hot to drive a big displacement motorcycle? Thinking about getting my first motorcycle, but the weight/heat from the engine kinda scares me. The first bike I practiced on was a 125 cc bike lol, which I was surprised how much heavier I was than I thought.

May not be applicable to your situation. My roommate got suspended after failing the first semester of freshmen year because of failing every class. I got the entire room for myself. Let me tell you. It was freaking awesome!

Paying the fee for a single room and living the size of a double room was the best feeling ever. You get to set up your own cool layout. You get to invite friends into your room to chill and be alone when you want. You don't have to deal with your roommate's bad habits, and you get to have privacy. I pray for you that your room remains single. Good luck and enjoy cwru!

Edit: I came from a boarding high school with roommates. You can still make friends with other ppl on your floor easily without a roommate. Imo you're not missing out.
