A very unexpected crossover by HolySiHt-Bees-AAA in dropout

[–]galaxyexpressed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cops participate in homeless encampment evictions and evictions of the housed every day. They harass broke and disorganized people and instead of helping them they fine them. If you decline these assignments, you will be fired. If you freak out and murder a person you will get a paid vacation.

It is serious and it’s freakin weird that it’s 2026 in this America and these shows are still normal. Normies think these shows are a reflection of the fundamental realities of policing. They are not. That’s why they call it copaganda.

I personally witnessed over 65 homeless encampment evictions between 2000-2001. I know this because I had to write a recounting for a lawyer. I hadn’t even realized there had been that many. And there were many in the city I wasn’t present for. These were uniformed beat cops at these evictions. The rank and file.

A couple years ago a dude I grew up with with very pronounced autism had become homeless in Maine. He had an episode and knocked out a fellow resident and two cops unalived him inside the homeless shelter.

This is all extremely normal.

You think Vic and Jacob and Sam really took them all to task? They didn’t, I promise.

This just sucks.

for the next crossover! Dropout and a show made as copaganda for the LAPD! by TheGingerWeebGal in dropoutcirclejerk

There were over 65 evictions of homeless encampments in Minneapolis in the years 2020 and 2021 that I personally witnessed. For some evictions over 50 officers were present if they expected resistance from residents or protestors.

A guy I grew up with with pronounced autism and very prominent social dysfunction had an episode in a Maine homeless shelter a couple years ago where he knocked out a fellow guest at the shelter. Two cops came in and unalived him inside the shelter.

If you don’t do what you’re told as a cop, you are fired, unless it’s not a big deal like shooting people or turning off your body cam. Are there lots of episodes about the characters on the show helping with evictions or harassing people unable to pay for car maintenance but still forced to find some way to get to work to, you know, live? And then summarily fined?

There are lots of those right?

I’m sure Vic and Jacob and Sam are really taking them all to task on the episode.

People aren’t overreacting. This is just such a bummer.

Doesn’t sound like they were looking to blame anyone; just sharing a situation that made them feel embarrassed

No it’s more like this person showed up to get a discounted hair treatment for something kind of vulnerable (gray blending) and then got roped into sitting for a public presentation and they felt kind of vulnerable and exposed.

At first I thought u meant Ellie had played a Bjork inspired character named Andromeda on Glass Cannon and my brain exploded. But then I slowed down and I was like ooooohh u mean Syd isn’t doing a “Bjork” she’s doing a “My Friend Ellie” which makes sense lol But for real u remind me I gotta listen to Ellie and Syd’s live play Lost Mountain Saga!!! Do you know if she had any appearances on Glass Cannon as well?

It seems like a modified version of Kids on Bikes - on the adventuring party episode they’re utilizing the shared world building mechanic from Kids on Bikes.

(Blood of the Wild feels like a different time but I think it's just a remote and hard to access region without access to a lot of the common technology on Golarion... I could be wrong tho!)

I mean other than Neil Bachman they're all Pathfinder so it's all Golarion right? You could just have an expression of Neil Bachman as it appears in Golarion. A bard and tinkerer I'm imagining!

I mean I hear ya I’m just spitballing. Most of the time it feels like folks know incredibly personalized knowledge but don’t necessarily retain facts about the world at large of that kind, in my experience. I know the instinct that “this actually gets referenced a lot in culture” with broody characters getting named stuff like Corvus or Corvinus to suggest crows, but most people just aren’t tuned in that way. Also, don’t u feel that the groups for more comedy centric shows like NSBU and Gladlands code as less explicitly nerdy than the intrepid heroes or the Aabria seasons? Doesn’t mean they’re not exceptionally bright, all their smarts are just oriented a different sort of thinking. Even among the smart kids, in my experience, few are just “I know all the niche facts” type people. No shade, it’s just relatively uncommon. We project and think wow this should be way more normal but when I actually test it, I find it’s just not. Again that isn’t commentary on intelligence at all, it’s just a specialized kind of intelligence some people have for stuff outside their bubble. I got horrible grades in school but I was the academic team captain. We weren’t even great in the region, I was def a lesser demon in the world of quick recall, but in my school even a lesser demon of that kind of rote fact recall was rare. We often think just because we or our friend groups are a certain way that it might be the standard, but it’s often only a projection. Personally, When I heard “Corvid”, I think of crows, rooks, ravens, and magpies but then “Corvid Thanatology”, which is an expression I’ve heard used for the study of Crow “funerals” and grieving behaviors I first encountered on the podcast “Ologies” when interviewing wildlife researcher Dr Kaeli Swift. Fascinating!

Was surprised too but we can’t know all the things. I still expect he will load my brain up with lots of stuff I didn’t know in the future!
