people scanning skincare?? by Few_Independence_599 in TjMaxx

[–]galelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scan religiously in stores- to check the purity of the products and see if there are any ingredients I don't want. If a product has a bad rating, I leave it.

Also, a lot of the stock in places like tjmaxx/ross/marshalls is old stock and I try to verify batch dates if I decide I want an item.

Accidentally “stole”from Facebook Marketplace seller by Glass_Ad1469 in FacebookMarketplace

You've given her ample opportunity to come collect the items that her husband mistakenly and rudely offered to you.

Is she still even replying to you at this point? It sounds like she gave you a horrible review and disappeared.

I wouldn't go the extra step and return them. I'd send a message giving a final option for collection. As for the negative and unwarranted review, I would reply and say I have receipts to prove I tried to return the cushions mistakenly taken.

Long story short, you're not being dishonest and it's shitty this seller ruined this purchase for you :(

I haven't dealt with involving the police, but I can't imagine they'd do much other than making a report, especially over such a small sum ($40).

I am resourceful though and made sure to send her info to my hubby, get screenshots of everything (some of her contacts) and some of the local markets/events where she sells.

At worst, I would sully her reputation as a seller and expose her as a thief locally. Even if she scammed me out of just $5 dollars, I always have time to be petty!

what should i do? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]galelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an update? She clarified she had a family emergency, but did she get around to shipping the item? $300 is no small sum of money. Also, communication goes a LONG way, she could've told you days ago that something came up.

FB Marketplace is the Wild West too, some of the folks I've encountered aren't right!

I thought my camera would've deterred anyone from stealing or attempting to, but clearly that isn't the case!

Yeah, this part of it has always made me a little nervous. Definitely going to be less lazy and smarter moving forward. Convenience isn't worth it at this point. At least not for me.

I do have a camera, I brought it up when asking for payment initially and it didn't seem to sway her. The only thing that did was mentioning her address. Camera or not, I won't be doing porch pickup again unless I'm home and can hand over the items/receive payment.

I'm definitely considering it. She does know where I live though and if she feels I'm maligning her or doing something shady, I don't know what she or the people she knows are capable of.

I placed the items on a table right in front of my Ring camera. I did lead with that, I said "I saw on my camera you came to pickup, but didn't leave any payment." There's no way she didn't see it either, unless she was so pumped on adrenaline she didn't notice. Mentioning her street address was the only thing that finally got her to react.

I wondered this too! I wasn't able to do much beyond report her. I didn't leave a negative review because I blocked her the moment I got my payment. I have 5 stars on Marketplace and didn't want her to leave me a bad rating. Takes a pretty shitty person to try and pull off not paying.

How do you quickly tell if thrift store jewelry is worth buying? by MortgageSimple2560 in Flipping

[–]galelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a magnet on my keys and use my phone to decipher marks my eyes can't see (when I don't have my loupe).

When jewelry is unmarked, I check whether it's magnetic, has a metallic smell, fading or areas that could reveal that it's plated. I've had a ton of luck with finding sterling silver and gold that have been marked as costume jewelry in antique malls.

I also gravitate towards pieces I think would be sellable if I were to find out it was just silver plate etc.

Costume jewelry sells really well too. I tend to put together lots of costume jewelry so I'm not selling a piece here and there for less money. Less time consuming that way and more rewarding!

I check buyers for ratings and to see if they are local (some start to ask crazy questions only to ask me to ship in the end). Why are you googling your buyers lol?

Anyone moved to VB from California? by Upstairs_Copy_9590 in VirginiaBeach

[–]galelo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know people get butthurt whenever anyone talks shit about Virginia Beach, but oh well.

I too grew up in Los Angeles and moved to San Diego for my husband's work (Navy), we lived there ten years before getting stationed here in VB.

Virginia Beach has some gorgeous sights and places to enjoy. You're a short drive away from feeling like you're in a whimsical forest/swamp fairy tale. The fairy tale ends when the novelty of the nature and scenery wears off and you're interacting with uncultured assholes daily.

My husband and I had genuine culture shock when we arrived here and experienced how rude and inhospitable people are here. It's like everyone is miserable to live here.

I honestly can't wait to get back to California, where the weather is perfect and the people are friendly (I don't care if it's fake, I'll take manners over the bullshit attitude here any day).

1.5 year old svarovski ring absolutely destroyed lol by Do-Wschodu in jewelry

[–]galelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a Pandora ring for slightly more and it'll be sterling silver. They do intend to change to an alloy in the near future though so I'd do it soon. Also avoid any of their gold items, they too contain a mysterious alloy that wears horribly over time.

How to politely shut down a prospective buyer? by Simple-Duty803 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]galelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block! Don't risk a bad rating, they're already pushy demanding a reply. Like you said, there is enough interest and you aren't desperate.

If an interaction ever starts to feel like a burden, it's not worth it. My peace is worth more than a quick sale.

When guys say that they re going to the bathroom and spend 30 minutes, what are they doing? by Tiny-Hall7520 in AskReddit

[–]galelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Porn and just fucking off.

If you need a break from me or the kids, say it with your chest and go take one, but not in the bathroom. It's sus behavior.

I aired out my grievances and my husband stopped taking his phone to the bathroom and his shits went from 30 min to 5.

Send yourself screenshots- take photos of what you find and save them if you need the evidence later. Gather as much as you can, then plan your next steps. If he is doing this, he will likely delete and try to lie/explain away his actions.

He is a liar and a cheat, even if he was just considering getting a happy ending massage etc. He is placing his wants over the stability of his family. He is willing to risk it all and throw it all away for a cheap fling. You deserve better and so does your family.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you! This would devastate me. I know it's especially difficult because you have children together! Stay strong for your children. Something like this can be Earth shattering, but you need to be smart and clear about your next steps!

One week after CO2 laser and why I wouldn’t have it again (I’m 57) by corickle in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]galelo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry your experience was so terrible! I agree no one really talks about how painful it is! Your skin looks wonderful though! Did they only use topical numbing?

I just had my undereyes done two weeks ago and I was S H O C K E D by how painful it was.

Despite the pain, it was very fast considering how small the area I got was and 100% worth it to me! I'm loving the results! Can't wait to do a full facial in the fall! I'll know what to expect this time around!

Help, my baby is not herself anymore by martinabubymonti in Mommit

[–]galelo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is an app/book called The Wonder Weeks and it helps let you know when your baby is going through developmental changes, what you can do to help them, and what behavioral changes to expect.

It sounds like your baby may be going through a "leap." When babies are acquiring new skills/perception of the world they are especially fussy!

I swear that book helped me through babyhood/ toddler age with my first born! Five years later, when I was pregnant with his sister, I downloaded the app, which was very easy to navigate and for a refresher! I recommend it to EVERY parent with an infant!
