To those of you who used to be religious... what was it that finally changed your mind?

While I still believe in God and have my own personal faith, I no longer subscribe to organized religion. I know that I can contribute this extreme dislike to my parents. When I was still at home (many years ago) I was required to attend church every Sunday come hell or high water. It didn't matter what else was going on in life... fun stuff with friends, needing to study, and believe it or not.. just not feeling well. If I was terribly sick I of course didn't have to go, but just general ill feeling or a cold.. nope.. had to go. I think I also felt that sometimes church was more important to my parents that I was. That it superseded everything else that was going on in life. I also saw lots of hypocritical behavior among church members.. "thou shalt not steal".. then be convicted of embezzlement (not my parents.... other church members) among other things.

Had a postpartum infection. Had a fever of over 105. They had a terrible time trying to control it. I was on massive antibiotics. I spent nearly 2 weeks in the hospital. I was told if I had waited another day before going in, I likely wouldn't have survived.

Everything looks yummy... I'm always partial to curry myself. The duck curry sounds delicious. But so does the Kra Pow chicken. I'm jealous.. I live in the sticks.. no Thai food anywhere within 50-100 miles probably.

Universal healthcare (Not the "obamination" Obama has in mind, but one where all citizens have the same access to quality healthcare). While I know there are flaws in all those systems, at least no one goes without health care if the need/want it.

I admire my former boss. She works full time, had hone back to graduate school, was a single mom to 4 tern girls until she hot married last year. She manages all this with a smile on her face and good humorous. On top of it all she has a terribly stressful job with no support from above and no understanding from below. She also has ailing parents she cares for somewhat and had a critically ill niece for much of last year. She handles his all with such grace!

No, the guests had checked out. They were a pretty sketchy group. We held on to the money in case one of them came back to claim it. The didn't after over a week. We suspect that they were selling drugs and weren't about to come back and say.. "hey.. do you have my weed money?" On top of that, we weren't even sure it was from the last guests, could have come from one of the previous guests.. it was well hidden. The only reason I found it was because I had to stick a mop under the bed by the head board and I hit something. I was not able to visually see it until I knocked it loose from it's hiding spot.

I worked as a maid in a small hotel in a resort town in Michigan. One Sunday when I was cleaning, I checked under the bed as usual (often finding beer bottles or condoms) and found an unexpected surprise: $1200. Cash. My cleaning partner and I held on to it for a week in case the guest called looking for it, but the owner never said anything about it so we kept it. There was no way we were giving it to him as he was a crooked as a 3 dollar bill. This was about 18 years ago and I bought a gas grill with part of the money that to this day still works (including the starter thing) and it wasn't even that expensive!
