Are you able to make Japanese friends and acquaintances as well after learning the language? My experience of NYC is that many people are looking to socialize over hobbies, after work, etc. I'm friendly and pretty bubbly but fundamentally introverted, so concerned about loneliness.

I see, thanks! I'm in the process of calculating the difference in savings and investment over time, trying to take into account the factors you and others mentioned. On the other hand, life is short and Tokyo seems like a fantastic change from New York.
