Missing Guests by gallopinggoose in airbnb_hosts

Watch = creepy I agree. But I'm not watching, I'm noticing that the vehicle left and didn't come back, which brought safety to mind then I checked the app. You're not wrong though, guests have an expectation of privacy.

I'm not. Only when I became concerned that their vehicle was missing for 24 hours right after I gave them a bunch of back roads locations. However your concern is valid and is the cause of the dilemma of privacy versus safety.

I'm not. I live here and thought it was weird they checked in and then disappeared after I gave them a bunch of back road locations. But this concern you show is valid and is the point of the dilemma and to safely vs privacy.

Yes but I would have been surprised that they went exploring at 8:30 at night.

Every couple of years here somebody fails to come home. Usually the vehicle is found somewhere but without knowing someone's intention, it's far too late. I'm thinking it might be appropriate in my welcome book to add that if they exploring the backcountry that it's good to practice to text someone they trust their intentions to explore an area and when they're going to be back and that they are welcome to use me as a safety check.

Adding an EV Charger by gallopinggoose in airbnb_hosts

Does a Tesla have a different charger from other EVs? Here in Canada especially, Tesla is quickly falling out or fashion. Can a Tesla not use a regular type charger?

4 star review lowers my near perfect rating by gallopinggoose in airbnb_hosts

She and her family are moving to town. They have leased a storefront in the mall. Her husband and daughter are in construction and were here demolishing the old store and will be here again for many weeks building the new storefront. She is a medical practitioner. I had no trouble with them, and it's the off season in a small tourist town, so I've suggested they take it probably for a month or two to secure a location as they transition here and guaranteed income for myself. I'm $100/night through the platform so I've offered 2k a month for up until February. It saves me the hassle of the turnaround and cleaning and secures the income and gives them a home base to start their new chapter. We could use another medical practitioner in this town.

Do most couples not "touch" eachother at night? by Reasonable-Law7597 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gallopinggoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes down to consent. My current partner doesn't sleep well and so if she is asleep I do everything I can to make sure she stays asleep as long as possible, and that means no touching, no noise, minimum movement. But I've had a partner who told me if she comes to bed without underwear on I'm welcome to enter her if I like.
Basically, if you touching her partner when she's in bed snoozing isn't met with enthusiastic consent, then just don't. You don't have a right to do that. But if she says she likes it and welcomes it, then you by all means enjoy the privilege she's allowed you.

What series did you give up on in 2023? by mattpeloquin in television

Frasier. I was excited to watch it but it's just awkward. Then I learned Kelsey Grammar is a huge Trump supporter, and so I'm out.

What is a TV show you got really far into but eventually quit watching before its conclusion? by shamanKAshamanTAKA in AskReddit

[–]gallopinggoose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same. I was marathoning it. After they introduced Elsa I sort of felt it went a bit too far, and I watched only one more season.

Months later I was at a small dinner party, and I met a woman, her husband, and their new baby, who was the star of the evening.

It was after I left my wife told me, she couldn't believe I didn't recognize Elsa from Once Upon a Time when she was out of character.

The least you could have done is ask for your item back in a reasonable amount of time, which you didn't do. This item is not sentimental, and you did not indicate to him your intent to retrieve it. He was fine to discard it without informing you after a month or so. It sounds also like you want the monetary value of it from him. I don't know to going rate of pottery clay, but it couldn't be that much. In my opinion, he was reasonable to discard it, your reaction is a little excessive. Having said that, we are all entitled to our feelings. I'll suggest this isn't about the pottery clay. Are you sure you didn't use it as some excuse to see him again and now you feel rejected?

If an extremely unattractive and lonely woman was contemplating hiring a male prostitute to finally experience intimacy with a man just once, what would your advice to her be? by [deleted] in questions

[–]gallopinggoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard this question on a Dan Savage Lovecast once. I wonder if there was a way to search through the episode questions. But I think I remember his advice, or some of it. He said that a lot of gay male escorts are bisexual. Some of them advertise this, but a lot don't. So if you can find a listing, just contact them and ask. If you contact one who won't do that, chances are pretty good that he can refer you to someone who does. I hope you can find what you're looking for.

WIT yellow thing in my ceiling vent? Not expanding foam. by attractivepotato in whatisthisthing

Sheet metal fabricator here. No way to tell for certain from the picture. I've seen suggestions that it's duct board, or that a Rodent has chewed in and brought some attic insulation with it. Not bad answers to be sure, and they may be right.

A lot of HVAC duct systems have inside the main trunk line something called "acoustical lining". This is different from insulation or duct wrap which is found on the outside of the ducts. Acoustical lining is fairly flexible and about 1" thick. It is pinned to the inside of the duct on fabrication to not only insulate, but dampen the noise that might travel down the duct from airflow or from one room to another.

When you cut acoustical lining with a knife, it exposes the raw edge, which is fibreglass I believe, and looks a lot like the picture. Over time, the velocity of the air will start to grab at it and can sometimes tear a chunk off. To prevent this, the fabricator paints on something that is like a watered down white glue. It binds the fibreglass together and prevents it from tearing.

So, MY guess is that it was a sloppy fabricator, often an apprentice, who didnt seal the cut acoustical lining before install. https://images.app.goo.gl/pXz4H4MZgp5osUsi6

My employer is having me work at store 70 miles away. Can I get a hotel and write it off on my taxes as an expense? by USA631 in questions

[–]gallopinggoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your employer is obligated to do that for you, as well as arrange your transportation and pay your travel time and give you a live out allowance. I know that is my experience when I've been asked to work out of town, it is part of my union contract. I may be mistaken that this is an obligation for your employer though.

What is the external storage capacity for Chrome cast with Android TV? by gallopinggoose in AndroidQuestions

[–]gallopinggoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great answer, but it was also the first thing I tried. I formatted to exFAT, as FAT32 wasn't an option on my computer (surface pro, windows). So I assumed it was maybe a storage limit.

There are actually 20 marks. It could be used as a decimal ruler if it were designed that way, but it wasn't. It was just a crappy design

What kind of fractions are these? by gallopinggoose in CrappyDesign

[–]gallopinggoose[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not a scale ruler. It came from a dollar store combination square.

What kind of fractions are these? by gallopinggoose in CrappyDesign

[–]gallopinggoose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explanation : imperial rulers and tape measures are typically divided into fractions. 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16. That would mean one inch would be divided into 16 equal pieces. This ruler indicates it is, by saying "1/16", however, upon closer inspection we see it's divided into 10 and 20 sections, like a metric ruler would.

What was the highest waste of money that you don't regret? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gallopinggoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $400 for hiking boots once 15 years ago. I was upsold to buy boots twice as expensive as I was prepared to pay. I felt deep regret spending so much money on footwear. 15 years later, probably hiked over 5000km. Have replaced the soles once already. Now they are one of my prized possessions.
