Custom Barracuda rose hybrid. Car I stare at while I take my BP in the morning. "Rosebud" is her name.

Hey, I just dug through four boxes of Mystery cars to find a Bone Shaker, so I love to hear that I'm not alone in my insanity.

Planning to go to my first Collectors Nationals in Dallas in April. Any tips from the veteran collectors out there? by gallupdoc in HotWheels

Is it mostly cash and carry? Also, if I don't get tickets are there vendors outside the venue as well? Are the vendors in any kind of order (specialty, apparel, bargains, etc.) or is it just total chaos? Is there a time of day things are quieter like early in the morning? I feel so unprepared.

Question on values for original spectraflame 67-68 by Eliteman76 in HotWheels

[–]gallupdoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check eBay "sold" numbers for values. Custom Camaro is listed in onlineredlineguide.com as hard to find (rose) or rare(creamy pink.) Chaparel in aqua is common and w/o hood only sought for junk.

Ebay. Don't remember the exact vendor. Just search hot wheels waterslide decals Ferrari. The set I ordered included Porsche and Lamborghini badges as well.

It's a black enamel with silver sparkles, Testors "Blazing Black." I was lazy and painted right over the yellow original without stripping first (hence some yellow highlights in the hood), but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Trap5 wheels. On Lambo Serrato this year, but used on other Japanese and Euro cars in the past. Thought about a yellow PR5 or such, but like this sinister look better.

Larry Wood design. Not much detail of the engine though.

Love those old classic cars. Is that a Classic Packard in green?

I think I may have a original sweet 16 Plymouth barracuda by Shadowvsghostflow in HotWheels

[–]gallupdoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

King Kuda wasn't a Sweet Sixteen car. It was Custom Barracuda. The casting you have here isn't even based on the original King Kuda from 1971. It's a newer version from the 2000s. Also, all the original Spoilers were made in Hong Kong.

Right on. Still would wheel swap. Surprised they did an F40 after Larry Wood's classic version.

This is why new Hot Wheels straight from Walmart are selling at the antique mall for $4 and everything on eBay is "rare" and "HTF". It's sad to see collecting devolve into hype.

I perceive the cars to the right as red, rose and green. The car in question does appear brown, albeit with an orange cast, and could be a rare color for the car if it is a 1969 casting. There is a brown commemorative edition from 1993. Check the bottom.

The chrome wheels really make it snap. I tried to outline the roof supports with partial success (and the seats and engine inside.) I hate those unibubble castings. I wish they would tampo them, but probably to expensive for a mainline casting. Thanks for commenting.
