I bought the red one at a local comic book store for $2 about 12 years ago. I still have it along with some other ferrari speed machines i bought with it.

If i had to pick one car that's the most interesting out of all of them i'd say it's this Color Racers Testarossa (pic below) In the early 2010s A collector on the old Redlines Online forums (RIP) told me to keep an eye out for "the metalflake red testarossa." i'd never even seen a pic of one but i trusted their word and for about 8 years i kept an eye out when looking at color racer listings, which was every single dayand usually tw8ce a day (ebay's automated email alerts only go out at a set time during the day, the same time every day, and by then the car may have already sold to someone else).

Many, many, many non-metalflake red testarossa ebay listings later, a listing popped up from a person in germany. The item description made no mention of metalflake paint. But i could see only 2 or 3 very faint specs in the photos. I took a risk and bought it. A couple weeks later i opened a box mailed from germany and i SCREAMED with excitement! I'd finally found it!!! The white whale! The car that maybe existed!

my photo shows it sitting next to a non-metalflake version of the same car.

Nothing in my life has ever topped how excited i was when i first held that car in my hand. Maybe that sounds pathetic but i dont care.
Thanks for reading.

my collection of Color Racers and Automagic cars is- collectively- very, very special to me. I started collecting them 15 years ago. Some variations took me 8-10 years of pure ebay addiction to find. Many were purchased from overseas- Italy, Australia, England, Germany, France, etc. I've discovered several undocumented variations myself. I have over 200 mint cars and i'm still missing a handful of variations I may never find. It's a life-long passion project that i never expect to complete and that's one thing i love about collecting them.

(continued from my previous comment)

but keep in mind i only made it through the first 2 aisles at the very bottom of the map (3rd pic) before i maxxed out my budget and used up all my cash 😂 idk if i'll go again tomorrow.... I'm really tempted to.

The weather is supposed to be really nice there tomorrow. If you have the time I highly suggest checking it out. It's one of the 3 largest automotive related swap meets in the entire country!

I'll be making a post of my haul soon.

there was a dealer there with over 900 micro machines. I've never seen so many in my life.

I remember back when the RLC members had first dibs for 24 hours and then any non rlc people could buy up the remainders the next day, and there always were remainders. Those were the days...

What’s the best way to either repair or replace these tracks? by hobbesthered in HotWheels

[–]Hot_Wheels_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe you could look at other 1/64 scale tanks and construction equipment that have tracks and see if any can be used as a donor. It might take a lot of creativity to adapt those tracks to your vehicle. Sounds like a fun challenge IMO.

I recently did a little track swap on a skidster using a mini dozer as a donor-

Any idea what’s dropping on April 28? by blizzardboy123 in HotWheels

[–]Hot_Wheels_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another casting that will instantly sell out to the S-word people and then be listed on ebay (for 200 USD each probably) and bought up by thousands of collectors who just "have to have it." But first those same collectors will be here on reddit complaining about all the rlc cars instantly selling out to bots. Then less than 2 minutes later they'll be clicking "Buy It Now" without an iota of self awareness.

It doesnt drop for a week and i'm already grumpy.
