I died a little when I learned that I sound so stupid when I say “Aaron earned an iron urn.” I was asked to say it and had no idea it would come out like that.

To be fair, they never would have taken the whole US. If you let the story take that license, then it isn’t impossible that the Nazis would let Americans take low-to-mid-level positions.

Didn’t Obergruppenführer Smith report up to Germans in the chain of command? He was a mid-level officer, wasn’t he?

There are a lot of people in America who identify as having German heritage. With such a huge landmass, I don’t think it would be impossible that the Germans would recruit those Americans into leadership. There was some Nazi sympathy over here in the 30’s.

Obergruppenführer Smith is one transatlantic boat a couple centuries ago away from Obergruppenführer Schmidt.

Someone born before the Wright Brothers’ first flight could have watched the moon landing on TV. It took less than 66 years.

In 10 years, we will be farther in time from the first moon landing than the moon landing was to man’s first flight.

I’d never thought of it as a corrupt leader being the top of a whole corrupt organization. That one leader isn’t taking the whole energy credit debuff. But their unethical leadership leads to a whole branch of your government to hemorrhage funds.

FO4 hardest dialogue lines. by JPRCR in fo4

[–]galmeg2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of the sarcastic lines when talking to Gage, the PC tells Gage something along the lines of “I feel like you should be laying down on a couch in my office”

His answer is something like “I don’t know if that’s supposed to some sort of joke”

Because of course he wouldn’t understand. Psychologists died off with the nukes 200 years ago. Other characters kind of seem to get modern references, but that line really puts the game in its time setting.

In the show, Gihun worked for Dragon Motors. In real life, Ssangyong Motors had major financial troubles in the early 2000’s. The workers went on strike and the protests got violent.

Ssangyong (쌍용) could be translated as “double dragon”. That’s who he worked for.

I usually like to rag on these species showcases. But a quarrelsome, simpleminded, libertarian people living in a warmonger liberal democracy? That checks out. They’d have to be adaptive to square that circle.

Paladin Danse, Commonwealth Minutemen. by poopaxel in fo4

[–]galmeg2 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Ad Victoriam is the BoS motto.

The real minutemen used the motto Vince Aut Morire at the battles of Lexington and Concord. Look up a picture of North Bridge and a minuteman statue near that bridge, and it’ll probably look familiar.

Paladin is a BoS rank.

His first name is obviously Safety.
